Pregnancy sleep issues

I am STILL having sleep issues with this pregnancy!

Mainly, I can fall asleep absolutely fine (more like pass out), but I end up waking up in the middle of the night, usually between 4-6, and can not fall back asleep! It is getting completely frustrating....

Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: Pregnancy sleep issues

  • I was having trouble sleeping. I bought a Snoogle pillow at the maternity store and it helped a lot. Best 60 bucks I ever spent.

  • i can't stay asleep for more than an hour or two at a time. it's like my bed has suddenly become very uncomfortable. plus i have to pee every five seconds or so.

(but, if i nap in the afternoon i'm usually out for three or four hours!)

  • Yes, in the past two weeks I've had this! I wake up like clockwork at around 2am and cannot fall back asleep for almost 2 hours! It sucks!

This is me exactly, except I wake up around 3ish and toss and turn until the alarm goes off at 5:30.  My husband hates it.

I don't remember having these kinds of sleeping issues until much later in my pregnancy with my first. I hope it is just temporary!

  • Yep, I am in the same pattern. No issues falling asleep but staying asleep is hard. I am usually up 2-3 times a night for anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hours before I can get back to sleep.

    It is soooooo irritating!

  • Definitely in the same boat! (Although I do have trouble falling asleep at night. It usually takes me at least 40 minutes or so to fall asleep now. And then I wake up around 2, back to sleep around 2:45, wake up around 4, then toss and turn until alarm goes off. I was telling DH over the phone early this afternoon that I was soooo tired today becuase it was a bad sleep night, and he goes "I KNOW; you woke me up like 5 times" (with my tossing/turning). Oops. [But a little bit of mean-spirited "haha" too! Try being in my shoes, buddy...hmmpf.] lol!

  • Thanks ladies. Sorry you are experiencing this as well, but also glad I am not the only one. I don't remember having this problem when I was pregnant with DD, either. Ugh. I have a feeling this may last throught the entire pregnancy, but I am hoping it doesn't. (Yawn)

  • I wake up multiple times a night and I swear my bladder has its own alarm clock!  11, 1, 3...rinse and repeat every darn night, plus I wake up every time I need to switch positions.

Maybe it's nature's way of preparing us for all those sleepless nights.  :)

  • YES. I have had sleeping issues since about 6 or 7 weeks. But lately I am getting extra frusterated. Like you, I sleep until early morning, then for the last couple hours I just lay there and wait for the alarm clock. I was dissapointed when my dr told me I can drink Sleepytime Tea (didnt work) or take Tylenol PM (too groggy in the morning). He said basically, lack of sleep wont kill me :( I want a better answer!
