Professor Plum and Update

Hi Ladies,

Reading the post by Prof Plum made me realize my update may be helpful... As I've shared before I started TTC by using Clomid right away. I tried 3 cycles with clomid and experienced extremely painful IUIs (almost unbearable) and ended up with a major depression. I decided to take a break and try accupuncture since I really didn't want to go on medication for depression. My accupunturist has worked with other lesbian couples TTC with great success. Not only was my depression treated (which I really doubted) but I went in for my 4th IUI and had NO pain! I was ecstatic and shocked, really. I have decided not to medicate until I know the need is there. During the break I had all testing done (HSG, Ultrasound, Bloodwork) and all was normal. I personally wonder if the clomid actually effected my natural rhythms making the procedure more difficult? Those of you struggling with medications, I highly recommend accupuncture. I'm in the 2 WW, but will let you know how it goes. Such a hard process but in the end it will be worth it!!!

  • That's good to know. I have kept accupuncture in mind and will consider pursuing it should things not lift soon.

I want to thank everyone for your kind words and support last week. It definitely makes a huge difference to know that you're not alone and that other people are thinking of and praying for you.  Things over the weekend seem to have gone somewhat better for me and I feel blessed.  I went in a few more times and by now have 3 dominant follicles (unlike the 9 or 10 they anticipated) and can proceed with the IUI.  I'll trigger tonight and do the IUI on wednesday.  I took the day off from work on Wednesday to try to reduce stress.  Plus DW and I are going to see Ani and Melissa Ferrick Wed night so that will be exciting. Then we're on to the 2ww, which will end on Thanksgiving.  So no matter what way it turns out, I'll be surrounded by family and could not ask for more.

The support of the community could never be understated. Thank you.
