The return of the night feed

GAH

We'd actually been doing fairly well in the sleep department.

Night feeds had been cut out over 2 months ago.

All of a sudden on Saturday it went to hell in a handbasket and not because of DST.

She woke at the new 2:24. Not uncommon, but lately she will whine or babble for a few minutes and go right back to sleep. Nope. Full on screaming bloody murder. Nothing will calm her down. So we make up 4 ounces. She drains it. Still screaming. Make 3 more. Drains it. Still screaming. Make 2 more. Drains it. So 9 total ounces. After eating 10 ounces at 8pm. FINALLY stops screaming and goes back to sleep. One hour and 36 minutes after waking. We're dying yesterday.

Last night. Wakes at 3:14. Screaming bloody murder. Nothing will calm her. At 4:10 I finally make a bottle. I really didn't want to and tried everything else first because we worked so hard to eliminate night feeds. She eats 5.5 ounces and goes back to sleep.

There's no 10.5 month growth spurt, right? I'm concerned we're reintroducing a bad habit, especially since she essentially woke at the exact same time both nights...

Re: The return of the night feed

  • Not to scare you or anything, but my DD was a perfect STTN kind of kid for months, then all of a sudden around 9 months, she decided she needed to eat in the middle of the night, and this has now been going on for 3 months....

I thought we had made some progress this past week, she was at least waiting until 4 am to wake up, but last night we were back to 2:30 am....

  • My kid has actually STTN maybe a dozen times in 10+ months. So I've never had a great sleeper that would be ruined.

However, the return of the night feed and the screaming banshee for hours at night is another story...

  • If I remember correctly (which I should since it was only a couple weeks ago) we had a 10.5 month growth spurt.  It did pass sooner rather than later and we are back on track with STTN.

((hugs)) ::coffee:: and lots of luck this is just a quickly passing phase.
