Dropped night feeding but not STTN?

i can't figure out what's going on with LO. the last two nights, he dropped one of his night feedings (3 am). however, the past two nights, he's also been grunting (likely gas) and waking himself up by peeing, and each time i think he's stirring because he's hungry, no go. so he's not really sleeping through the night, but he's not hungry either. what's up with this?

Re: Dropped night feeding but not STTN?

  • I totally remember DS doing this for a week or two around that age--he'd be grunting like nobody's business between like 3-7 am. No idea what it was, but I think it's normal.

  • There's a HUGE variety of reasons babies wake at night aside from hunger. Gassy, too hot, too cold, they miss mommy, they notice cool pictures on the wall, they hear the wind, they hear the cat, they think the sheet feels neat, they discover their feet . . . you get the idea. Eventually their brain will learn to register all of the above and then go back to sleep, but your LO is still a bit young for doing that consistently.

Yay for dropping a night feeding, though!
