Organic, BPA free baby food brands?

So, I usually make LO's baby food, but there are certain things that I just cannot get the consistancy that he likes, so I thought I'd try buying those kind... and because I want some options when we travel in a few months. I was all set to buy Earth's Best Organic jar foods, but then I learned that they use BPA in their lids.

Does anyone have a good brand they use that is Organic and does not contain BPA anywhere in their product?

  • Have you checked out Ella's organics and Plum Baby? They sell both at Target. Also, Gerber has a big range of organic options now. They come in a plastic container with a foil lid. Isn't BPA a plastic? I thought that the Earth's Best jarhad metal lids...

  • Sprout's organic baby foods are amazing - like they actually taste fabulous - and come in a resealable, BPA free pouch.  Other than the peas (which have mint in them and remind me of a pasty shot of wheat grass) they were all winners with DS and me when we had to use something packaged. ;)

  • Nope - haven't checked it out yet... will do though! BPA can be found in metal lining as well... I actually read that manufacturers of baby formula use bpa in their linings... apparently thats why they say it's better to use powered formula than liquid since the liquid has more of the lining.

  • For the tube foods - do you freeze them or keep them at room temperature? Are you able to use some of it and then put it back in the fridge to be used later or the next day?

  • When we had to use prepackaged stuff, DS liked Sprout, Plum Organics, and Ella's Kitchen.  If you don't need the whole package, you can just squeeze out however much you want and then stick the rest in the fridge.  We mostly used them when DS was older, so he would just suck it straight out of the tube, which he thought/thinks is the greatest thing ever - in fact, I still carry a pouch of PO or EK in his diaper bag for times when we're out running around and he needs a quick snack.  I figure they make applesauce in squeezy pouches for kids, so it can't be TOO "babyish" to give him one of the PO or EK pouches instead of an applesauce pouch... plus it gets extra veggies in him when I do the fruit/veggie mixes.
  • My favorite is Happy Baby.  You can get them at target and maybe whole foods, I have found them to be less expensive with the same quality.

  • We love the Plum Organics. J started with the stage one single foods, things that weren't in season, like mangos and is now on to the stage two blends. And when they are on sale at BRU or Target its worth it to stock up! Mango is still one of his favorites, he squeals when we are feeding it to him Big Smile

  • We keep the pouches in the diaper bag at room temp. They can be refrigerated. We like them now that J is on a veggie strike.

I also love the Sprout pouches, they are at Walmart and Giant and are made by Tyler Florence. Josie goes nuts over the minestrone! We never gave baby food until she was older and already eating table food and she LOVES that stuff, that's how good it is.
