We have been doing solids for a few weeks but he rarely if ever opens his mouth. We have to get him to laugh or something sometimes to get a few bites in. Any suggestions?

Here's my trick... ... I give her a small bowl or cup to play with 99.9% she is going to put it in her mouth. Once i see her going for it I slip the food in... It get messy but it works! I have also given her a spon with food on to put in her mouth. You just got to watch how far it goes in.
This happened to us. I felt like I was forcing the spoon in his mouth. I tried just resting the spoon on his lips and wait for him to open. It took a couple bites but he's got it now.
I wouldn't push it. If he's not interested he's not interested. He's only 6 months. If you really want him to eat solids, try giving him things he can feed himself and see if he's interested in that.

Give it a few weeks and then see if he is more interested. He's really pretty young. Solids are just for practice at this age, there's no reason to make him eat yet if he's not interested.
