Shopping cart covers?

What kind of cover do you have? I am trying to shop for one,  but am having trouble deciding. Does yours also cover high chairs? And does it adjust to the big carts like at Costco/BJ's/Sam's?

Re: Shopping cart covers?

  • We just bought a Balboa Baby cover. They do work on high chairs but not the on big carts for Costco/BJ's, etc.

  • We have this one

I used it at BJs and the regular supermarket already. It also works with highchairs.

  • We don't have one.  It's a little too germophobic IMO :)

I have to disagree. I'm pretty darn far from being a germaphobe. I use it not because I don't want my child touching the cart...but I don't want them sucking/chewing on it. She will put just about anything in her mouth....if you call that germaphobic, then well maybe I guess I am. But knowing that people don't wash their hands and probably pee on them, etc, I don't want that in my childs mouth.

I second this. I am far from gremaphobic but know that shopping carts are never cleaned and dont want LO chewing so gross 20 year old metal bar with who knows what on it. Also my mom made mine and its very comfy, she added lots of extra pillow fluff stuff to the seat so LO doesn't have to feel the hard cold bars.

Also if my mom didn't make it I totally would have got the floppy seat linked above.

V, just want to let you know that it may not fit perfectly on the shopping cart at BJs, but I just tucked it around Callie to hold her up for now. So it may not fit completely around the cart, but it works in terms of covering it for the most part.

    Yes

ETA: A lot of ppl also put meat and chicken in the seat part of the cart. The juices sometimes leak. I don't want my baby sitting in that/putting that in her mouth.

A good point.  I was thinking I would just wipe it down with the clorox wipes the stores have available by the carts but maybe this isn't enough.

Ya, I thought about just using those...but for some reason I don't feel like they'll get all the nasty off. I get the chills just thinking about what's on those carts. lol

  • We just have the Bright Starts one that someone got us at my shower.  It's worked great for us.  I haven't tried it at Sam's/Costco, but I've used it at the regular grocery and on high chairs.  I like the little toy loops it has so I can hook some toys on it with rings (I've used the toys from his play gym).  That way I'm not constantly making sure he doesn't throw his toys on the ground or attempting to chew on the side of the table.

I agree that if it were just a touching thing, I wouldn't worry, but C puts everything in his mouth.  He tries to chew on the side on the cart, the side of the table, touches things then puts his hands in his mouth.  Clorox wipes may work, but it always seems to be empty.

  • Yeah I'm probably one of the least germophobics there are... but shopping carts gross me out .  I always seem to pick the ones with mysterious sticky substances on the bar. Ick!

I need to look into one of those covers.

me too and I'm no germaphobe!  I just put her in the baby carrier while I do groceries...she can't touch anything gross, she usually naps while I go around and it leaves more room in the cart for my stuff Smile

  • I just got an Eddie Bauer one from Target today. We went to eat out yesterday and had her sitting on a high chair and she was wanting to chew on the handle in front of her. That's a no-no in my book. No no no no no! Stick out tongue
