TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

What to expect on cd12 u/s? Lots of ?'s (clomid cycle)

I had my baseline cd3 u/s and took Clomid cd5-9.  I go in for a check on Monday and am getting nervous about it.  I really hope I responded well.  So lovely ladies, my question is - what should I expect?

What would a "good" response look like - 1 or 2 follies?  How big?

What would be too many?

What would a no-response look like?

What if I have 2 mature and 2 smaller - would a trigger shot release them all?

I'm trying to prepare myself for the good, bad and ugly so I'm not suprised.  I'm also getting a hysterosonogram so any advice on that would be great too.

TIA!

Re: What to expect on cd12 u/s? Lots of ?'s (clomid cycle)

  • I don't have all the answers to your questions but I will share my experiences.

1st clomid cycle- CD 13, 2 mature follies-16mm on my left and 17mm on my right. I O'd 3 days later.

    2nd clomid cycle- CD 12, 1 mature follie @ 16mm on my right, a 12mm follie on my left.  I O'd 2 days later.

I had a good response both cycles, but unfortunately it appears that I probably O'd from the right both times (for sure the 2nd), which is my partially blocked tube.

I did not use a trigger either time, we just started having the night of my u/s the first cycle and the the night of my first +OPK the second cycle.  I was offered a follow up u/s with my second round since I requested a trigger and it was too early to do so, but I didn't want to miss another afternoon of school and it would have been too late anyway because I O'd on Sunday.

Also, my first cycle my lining was over 8 and this last time is was near 8 (7.9 something).  I would ask about that too if they don't mention it.

    Good luck!

I have had 7 medicated cycles, 2 of them were poor response so here is what I know:

Your RE will want to see at least 1 follicle at about 17-18 mm.  My RE is usually ok with them being about 16, especially if there is another one that is bigger.  I have had one up to 23mm.  If you have any that were over 10mm, they responded, but anything under 13 is usually considered a poor response.  If that happens, seeing as this is your challenge cycle, they will probably scrap it.  They MIGHT have you take clomid again for 5 more days and see you again around CD18.

Now if they are over 13mm, they may just have you wait a few days to trigger or come back in for another follie check.  It is possible that they will get to 17 or so in a few days, but if its only 10 or so it will probably only get to right around 14 and stop maturing.

As far as too many, I have had 3 mature ones and one not far behind, so more then likely all 4 released.  I was warned I had a chance of multiples, and if I wa uncomfy with the 3 we could not trigger and TTA the rest of they cycle.  We took the chance and I would up with a BFP that was my ectopic.

I hope that answers everything.  Sorry for any mistakes, I am on my droid.

  • Here are my experiences: 50mg Clomid - On CD 11 I had an 11mm follie. She was not happy with that. I came back on CD 14 and had a 15mm follie. Those were low, and she bumped my dosage up for the next cycle.

100mg Clomid - On CD 13 all she told me was not good. I ended up doing another 5 day stint of 100mg of Clomid. I came back on CD 20 with a 22mm follie, and triggered.

    I then did a 10-day on 100mg - On CD 17 I had a 24mm follie and triggered.

I only had one follie each time. Another above 12mm would be good.

    Good luck on Monday!
