Hello Ladies!
I have finally decided on a RCS due to blood pressure issues and (well I don't have to defend the choice but...) After a conversation with my OB he said he typically schedules at 38 weeks...how early were your scheduled RCS? I was induced with my first who ended up breech and I had a c-section at 37w4d...he was only 5lbs 1oz and 17in long. I am seeing a diff. doc this time around and am confident in my care and am hoping this baby is growing better due to being on a different BP medicine and only being on it for the last trimester instead of the whole pregnancy...
Thanks in advance for your replies!
Re: How early were your scheduled RCS?
There are multiple studies that indicate that a c/s shouldn't be done prior to 39 weeks unless medically necessary for the mother or the baby. And on top of the studies, the ACOG specifically recommends that elective c-sections occur at 39 weeks or later, unless there is a medical reason.
Personally, I would ask why the doctor doesn't follow the ACOG recommendation and I would decline any scheduled c/s until 39 weeks.

"Babies born prior to 39 weeks have more feeding difficulties, more breathing difficulties and need more medical support, whether it be artificial ventilation or oxygen support or some form of tube feeding,"
"These early deliveries are associated with a preventable increase in neonatal morbidity and admissions to the neonatal ICU, which carry a high economic cost," the study concluded. "These findings support recommendations to delay elective delivery until 39 weeks gestation, and should be helpful in counseling.
At my first prenatal visit my ob mentioned possibly scheduling my c-section at 37 weeks because of my history. He would determine for sure after seeing how the pregnancy progresses. 37 weeks and beyond is considered full term by many obs. But it leaves little room for error on the baby's actual gestation.
I'm not concerned because my second pregnancy had to be delivered at 24 weeks gestation (1lb 7oz). He's now 4 years old and my amazing lil superman. So I'll consider myself blessed to get to 37 weeks. My first was at 37w6d and she was 6 pounds even. I am eating more this time and I think this baby will be bigger than the first.
Hope that helps.
The hospital I delivered at will not allow elective inductions or C-sections prior to 39 weeks.
Exactly this.
Good luck today
DD2 was scheduled for RCS at 39 wks 2 d since the Dr's office and hospital would not allow c/s to be scheduled prior to 39 wks (barring medical reasons). It didn't matter as she ended up being born at 33 wk 5 d due to spontaneous PTL they couldn't stop.
This time I will be trying to make it to 38 wks for my RCS since I am carrying twins - medical reason to have it prior to 39 wks.
