I don't get how DH and I, who between us had hardly any ear infections as children and both have our tonsils, produced two children who thus far between them have 3 sets of tubes and DD has had to have her adenoids and tonsils removed.
Today I took DS back to the ENT for his check-up on his tubes (one in and one out, which I knew) and to talk about his congestion. We ended up doing a quick extraction which is a nice way of saying she picked his nose and cleaned out his ear. She fished out two boulder-like gigantic boogers from his nose that were clogging things up. She also told me his tonsils looked "moderately large" but we were going to try these meds first and decide in December what to do next. I replied with a "at least sounds like the meds can stop a tonsillectomy because DS would be a NIGHTMARE in recovery". She just gave me a pitying look and said "well, maybe."
Which means I will likely have to go through another tonsillectomy with a kid that I have a hard time getting him to take his meds now, let alone in agonizing pain with his throat on fire.
