I Got On The Treadmill Yesterday....

And it made me realize how out of shape I had gotten.  But I also felt pretty damn good about getting on it.  So I vow to get on the treadmill a minimum of 3 times a week.  Next week on Monday, I am starting the Couch to 5k program.  I downloaded the app into my phone & downloaded the music pod casts into my cell phone as well.  You can get the pod casts from here:  https://www.djsteveboy.com/1day25k.html

Who's with me??  Running is such a fat burner & is good for your heart.  I want to be healthier & more active for my LO.  I want to lead by example & show her that her mommy is healthy & wants the best for her too.  Join me!  (please!!!!Stick out tongue)

Re: I Got On The Treadmill Yesterday....

  • I'm with you!  I started the Couch to 5K program three weeks ago, I'm starting week 4 today.  It's amazing how much energy I have now that I've gotten started.  I just printed out the program from Cool Runnings:  https://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

What I like about the program is that it's gradual enough that my muscles didn't hurt the first few weeks.  The key was to stretch well afterward.  When I work out at home, I put my DS in his exersaucer next to me and he plays while I run.  If I'm really lucky, he is patient while I take a quick shower too (depends on the day).

I'm also doing some strength exercises twice a week on the machines at the gym after a 5 minute walking warm-up on the treadmill.  I follow up the routine with my Couch to 5K right afterward, and it's easier to do after I've warmed up on the machines.

I'm also doing Weight Watchers (online, I'm not a meetings kind of person) and it helps me track my measurements.  I'm already losing fat from my waist, hips, arms and legs.

  • YAY! If you want more running friends on https://dailymile.com please find me. I'm the only Shaindel there, so it should be pretty easy :-)

I have it set up so my running times/distances are sent to Facebook and Twitter, so I think it really helps me with accountability :-)

  • Thank you, Ladies! I'd been slacking this week. (My teaching schedule along with Jared's teaching schedule is crazy...) so I hadn't made it to the gym this week. Tonight, I ran 2 miles in 19 minutes. First mile at 6.3 mph, 2nd mile at 6.7 mph. Thanks for the kick in the pants!

  • P just went down for his nap so i'm bumping. You just motivated me to hop on the treadmill instead. Hopefully my elephant-like stomping won't wake him up Stick out tongue

    Thanks for the motivation!

  • I need to follow suit! I don't know what I was thinking, but I signed up for a half marathon in January. The farthest I've ever run before was 6 miles, and that is when I was in great shape on the crew team in college. I haven't run since early in my pregnancy and somehow I need to make it 13 miles in 3 months. Time to accept what I've done and get on the treadmill as well.

Good luck to everyone else trying to get back on there!
