Transitioning from bottle to sippy

We are having a tough time with Sophia.  If she gets milk in anything but a bottle she just lets it pour out of her mouth.  We gave her chocolate milk out of a straw the other day and she sucked it down.  We switched it to white milk and she wouldn't drink it.  Anyone have any tricks?

  • No ideas but wanted to say J did the same thing. People suggested we warm the milk before we put it in the sippy but nothing worked. To this day he still won't touch milk.

  • Jules does the same thing and lets it pour right out. Yet, she can do water just fine. She also loves to tip over the bottle and sippy and let the milk dump out. Errr. Yesterday we our first day where I gave her a straw sippy all day (the playtex ones I have don't leak).  She did well except at bed time, so I gave her the bottle then, but I figured I'd rather have her go to bed with a full stomach since I knew she drank less during the day.  Not much advice since she's almost 17 months and we're still fighting this issue but wishing you good luck!

We have good luck with the Playtex straw sippy cups. Granted, she doesn't understand regular sippy cups now - the straw ones she tries to tip, so I got her a regular one and that she just either doesn't drink or lets dribble out of her mouth.

  • Hmm. I was gonna suggest warming it and using a straw cup.  Seems like those have already been suggested. :)

  • I would just gradually add more and more white milk to the mix.  Continue to use choc. milk if she likes that.  We used the banana flavored yo-baby and mixed and decreased, but since you already know she likes the choc. milk I would just continue that.  It took a few weeks, but she got to 100% milk.
