DS is getting to the end of his highchair days, he is too tall to be strapped in and I dont trust him that far off the ground to not be strapped in...what did the bumpies go to next? He has his bday and xmas coming up and looking for some useful items for his list:-)
thanks!
Re: seat after highchair
When DD turned 2, we got her this seat, which goes in a regular dining room chair. It doesn't have straps but we've never had a problem with her falling out.

We use the same chair without the tray. It's great and inexpensive.

we use this seat: https://www.amazon.com/Chicco-Caddy-Hook-Chair-Red/dp/B000A7V1EM/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1320440390&sr=1-1 and love it!
audrey is 13 months and sits comfortably in it. tomas is nearly 5 and can still fit in it (he's also skinny).
Like PPs linked to, we use the Fisher Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster for both DD and DS after they turned about 14 months. We used the tray for a while but soon pulled them right up to the table. I actually just ordered DS a foam booster (like DD's) today to replace it, so both of them used it past age 2. We love it, and it's great for travel. The only downsides are (1) food gets trapped underneath the chair when it's not on its lowest setting and is a slight hassle to clean out after every meal (though DS is a messy eater anyway), and (2) the straps have worn away at the paint on the chair (which could have been fixed by fashioning some sort of sleeve but I was too lazy).
FYI, we got DD a Cooshee booster in 2009 and she still uses it...it's awesome. However, I got two different ones for DS and both are made differently from DD's, and I don't like the features of the newer ones: a not-shiny surface that's harder to wipe clean, smaller size, softer foam, and one stuck to our chair so strongly that there are still marks on it from just one use. I'm trying the Prince Lionheart one next.
We use the same booster as QueSrah and I love it. I hated our high chair, so was happy to make the change. Like others, we used the tray until probably about a month ago; now we just put her at the table in the booster.
I still strap DD in because she starts to squirm and I totally think she'd fall out.
Also, FWIW, I bought this one to keep at my parents house and I hate it. It's hard to undo the straps, it's hard to loosen the straps, and it's hard to get the tray on and off. Overall a bad purchase.
