Hi girls!
Just had my second homestudy meeting (first meeting was last week with both my husband and i. second, just me. third, just my husband, and last one, both of us!) and thought I'd jump on here and report back before I forgot all kinds of useful details.
The whole meeting lasted about an hour and 15 minutes. She started out just by asking my previous addresses, previous job history, any experience with child care (and the dates) and my marital history (when we got married, any periods we were separated or any previous marriages). She asked me to describe my own personality and then describe my husband. She also randomly asked if we were interested in foster to adopt.
Next, she asked me about any 'losses' i've had (deaths, parents divorce, etc), general feelings/thoughts about my childhood, happiest family memory, and most traumatic event growing up. Then she asked me about my family members, what it was like growing up with my family, how much we keep in contact now, things we did together growing up, any family hobbies (church groups, family sports etc), and what school was like for me (was i a good/bad student, if i got into any trouble as a kid), etc. She asked about family holidays, what religion i was raised in, and general questions about my childhood.
The last part was more about parenting and she asked about what I would do the same as my parents, what i would do different as my parents did, and what expectations i would have for my own children.
That was about it! Honestly, not too painful. She comes back on Monday to interview my husband, then we'll set up one final meeting for us to meet all together and then we'll find out if we get licensed. Just thought i'd come back and share with everyone. Again, i think it's been said before here-- but I always like to offer our case worker a glass of water or tea as it's a long period of time for them to be talking.
Sending positive vibes to everyone else who's 'waiting'!
