What did I get myself into?

Hi :). I offered to organize a play group for ds's special needs preschool (3 yr olds). I'm new to this so I really don't know what I signed up for and google has only gotten me so far. I collected email/ phone info and am hoping to get everyone on a Facebook group page so we can vote on days and times. What do you think of this email? Is it too much? Ami on the right path?

??Hi Ladies, ?I've been looking for a good website where we can communicate with each other regarding play dates or anything kid related. Facebook has a great secret group option which would allow us to vote on dates, post info, maps, questions for everyone or just for one person, and share pictures securely. Do you have Facebook pages or are you willing to join? ?It's really simple and free.


??I'll look around for another option but my guess is that we will need to join any site we want to use. ?If you aren't computer inclined I'm happy to forward play date info once we firm it up.?


?? XXXX has graciously offered to host a play date (thank you XXXX!) at her home and I have a couple of ideas for outings. Does anyone have or plan to purchase year long park passes? ?If so maybe we can plan some dates with those in mind. ?We join the aquarium, zoo, and animal park every year and I have a handful of free guest passes to the aquarium. ?Is anyone interested in going this month?


??I found both a large and small animal program for children?with disabilities just down the street and I am looking into whether we could all go for just the day. ?If anyone has a great idea for activities let me know.


??Is there interest in a Mom's night out? ?Maybe a spa night??

    I think your email sounds good. I would probably leave off the part about moms night out/spa for right now until you know the ladies better. I'd also list some ideas for free activities (library, playground, park, etc) so that they know all the outings won't require them to spend money.

    Mrs. Manners, that seems like a good idea- holding off on the spa and stressing that. Will be utilizing the park. The animal program is free and I meant that I would provide gust passes for people if they want to go to the aquarium. I have five and figured that will probably cover everyone since kids are free. Maybe I could ask for low or no cost activity ideas?

    Ok I took out the mom's nit out (plenty of time for that, you are right!). And reworded rings a bit to make it clear they are free or cheap.     I think that sounds awesome. They are lucky to have someone who puts so much thought into the organization of the group.

    Awww thanks Mrs. Manners. I want our kiddos deserve to have a great time! I know I have sort of isolated myself and in the process ds ever since his behavior went wacky and he got diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. I wasn't ready to discuss it with every play date mommy but couldn't explain his behavior otherwise- frankly I didn't even understand it yet. Onto of that regular activities aren't always ideal for a kiddo on the spectrum as they can be over stimulating etc. Plus having a new baby has made the last year a really tough one and I get the feeling that some of the other mommas may have had similar experiences. I'm hoping that we can be supportive of each other and feel comfortable that our kiddos aren't being judged and our parenting is not being attacked bc our kids aren't typical.
