(NBR) The things I get myself into...

Hey, All,

 I shared this on the 6-9 month FFFC, but I *had* to share it here since I feel like I "know" you guys, and I hope you find it amusing.

Our local brew pub (which was voted the best brew pub in the West) is coming out with a new beer tomorrow, so they're doing a late "Oktoberfest" celebration.

Jared is performing with a band, and they're all wearing costumes. They asked me to play saxophone with them, and I wanted to, but it's a last-minute gig, and I need written music; I can't just improvise (I'm not THAT good). So, I'm going to be doing back-up vocals and hand-held percussion--tambourines, etc. While wearing a "sexy beergarden server" costume!!!! For some reason, this was a cool idea when I thought I could be hiding behind a tenor sax. Now, I'm sort of nervous. Rehearsal's tonight at 5! Wish me luck!

    I'm not a great saxophone player. We always joked in jazz band in college that "bad sax is better than no sax at all." :-)

    This sounds like so much fun!  Enjoy your rock band experience.  It sounds like you play the sax like I play fiddle.  I use sheet music, don't play it all that well, but I have fun while I'm playing!

    Margaret (my music professor friend who plays accordian a.k.a. Liam's "lesbian grandma") and I just wrote about five polkas that we're going to play tomorrow. Here's an example of some of the craziness.

     Here's the chorus for The Bisexual Polka:

    I like boys in lederhosen.

    I like girls in dirndls.

    German dress is wunderbar!

    It turns my head in circles.

    Thank you for putting up with my wackiness. I still can't believe I'm doing this. LOL!

    Awww... My costume came yesterday, and I was HOPING it only looked short because the model was tall. It's like LINGERIE-short! (I'm going to wear short bicycle shorts under it!)

    Maybe you'll get crazier as you're older ;-) I'm going to be 35 in March, so you've gotta have fun sometime. Right!?!?
