I have Blue Cross, and mine did. They required we meet our deductible first though, which would be about third trimester (with all your appts). I had to order it from a specific medical supply store, and it was kind of like picking up a prescription-- just paid $30 and I got a Medela.
The moment a child is born,
the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield too and was really hoping that they did. I just called them because I didn't know. Their customer service is really nice btw. the coverage depends on if you meet their criteria. here is the link to the info.
Mine does, but not until I have met the deductible and AFTER the baby is here. Needless to say I won't be getting it right away, but I am willing to wait if they are willing to pay for it.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
Not all BCBS plans cover it, so you'll need to call to see.
We had to switch to DH's BCBS plan, but it does not cover breast pumps. However, my BCBS plan through my previous employer covered it. I explained the situation to my OB, so she wrote up a medical equipment order for me before my insurance ran out (I quit my job to stay home) so I could get one. I then went to the hospital med equip dept who then billed BCBS for the pump. The only downside was that I could't pick my pump, but the hospital recommends Medela Pump N Style, which I probably would have chosen anyway.
I have BCBS and called with my first. My policy covered it. He told me to purchase it and send in the receipt and they would apply the amount to my deductible.
I have BCBS as well, the Federal Employees Program, and they don't cover it at all but it depends on which BCBS group you're with. I can use FSA funds to pay for it though.
Definitely call and see as every plan is different.
Mine covers it and will cover 90% of the cost IF I get a doctors prescription saying that it is necessary AND I purchase from one of their preferred medical supply companies (there are plenty around to choose from). If not, they will only cover 60%.
I have BCBS & breast pumps are covered on my policy as long as you have a prescription from your doctor. For my policy the deductible applies, but I will have already met it with my bills from L&D.
I have an individual policy through BCBS NC and mine does not cover breast pumps. I get a "discount" at a specific medical supply store, but they are actually MORE expensive (even with the discount) for the same pump at places like BRU. Uhhhhh...what?
I have insurance through the state my HMO is United Health Care and they give everyone one. It's a lifetime though so I will ovbiously get that one for free and nothing else. I got a Medela when I had DS and the hospitals LC actually was the one who told me about it and ordered it for me and it got delivered that same day within 3 hours after I spoke to her.

I don't know if mine does or not (BCBS). But I do know that all breast feeding supplies (including the pump) are tax deductible as a medical expense. Keep your receipts!
Re: Did insurance pay for your breast pump?
well that stinks ill def give them a call and see thanks

No, they did not.
Just give your insurance company a call (the number is on the back of the card) and ask them if they cover it and under what circumstances.
No, mine did not. I think it depends on the policy that you have. I know that my dh work place puts a lot of the policys into place.
I was kind of bummed they didn't cover it, oh well.
