Parenting after 35

Saying Hello (Intro)

Figured since I'm now 35 (bday was Tuesday) that I'd say hello.  Looking forward to discussing parenting related stuff with people who 'get' where I'm at in my life.

Quick background: I'm a 35 yr old scientist turned SAHM.  My DH is Navy.  We're from New England originally, but live in CA for now.  DS is our first child, but was my second pregnancy (m/c).  He's 5 weeks old and came a couple weeks early due to lovely Pre-E.

BFP#2 2.5.11 (EDD 10.15.11) DS born 9.28.11

BFP#4 8.27.13 (EDD 5.6.14) DD born 4.23.14

  • Congrats and welcome to you and your sweet little peanut!
  • Hi and welcome! I was born in SD. Moved away 34 years ago, but still.
  • Hello, welcome, happy bday and congrats on the new baby, sorry to hear about your m/c. You will find this group wonderfully civilized compared to some of the boards. It can be a slow board though. Not much action for us "old" ladies here. I grew up in so cal and lived in San Clemente. I'm a RN and I used o work at the hospital there. Welcome

  • Welcome and congrats! What kind of scientist are you?

  • Welcome little girl.  You will find it odd here because you are now the baby of the bunch.  (I am 42.)  Hope to hear more from the perspective of the younger generation.

Environmental Scientist.  For the last 12ish years I've done environmental clean ups (oil spills and the like).

From reading through some of the other posts on the board I'm loving that there are ladies here that 'get' what its like to have an established career and to take a break from that for the kids early years.  Very few people on the 20-something populated boards really got that.
