Recs for new carseat

My baby is about out of his infant carseat so we are planning on getting a new one this weekend. I was going to get the Alpha Omega from Costco but then I read some not good reviews. I want one that will convert from rear to forward facing and last for a good long while. What is everyone's favorite on here? I am looking to spend less than 200. Thx!

Re: Recs for new carseat

  • I think Graco makes an all in one now that does rear and forward facing, but I don't know the price.

We went with the Graco My Ride 65 for DD2. She's 3.5 and still fits in it just fine.

  • My friend has the Evenflo Symphany and I have read great reviews about this seat as well.  Think it runs about $199 at BRU.

  • Good choice in staying away from the Alpha Omega.

    You can look here:

    https://carseatblog.com/

They have a list of recommended seats at the top of the page.

Good news is that there are a lot of good choices for under $200!

  • The best one for you depends on your child's size and your vehicle, but good options based on budget would be: Graco MyRide 65 and Safety 1st Complete Air LX.  If you could bump your budget to $230-240, I'd look at the Britax Marathon 70, Britax Boulevard 70, and Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL.  Here is a car seat safety blog with more info and reviews.

  • Ditto with what PP's said about staying away from the Alpha Omega. It's a quickly outgrown seat, and makes a terrible booster. It won't last like you want it to. Here's where to look for seats: https://www.car-seat.org/

They will give you the best info!

  • Love our Sunshine Kids Radian 80. It's on sale for $189 on Albee Baby right now with free shipping. Rear faces to 45 pounds, forward faces to 80, with a height limit of 53 inches. It's very easy to install and great to travel with (folds flat and can be used as a backpack).

Ditto on the Radian. They are on for fantastic deals right now because of the SSK switch to Diono. So, unless your lo is freakishly tall like mine, it should fit a good long while. If you're willing to go hunt for the new Diono seats and it's in your budget, they are true 3 in 1 seats (unlike the pos AOE). The new seats booster.

  • Britax Boulevard 70 CS, we LOVE this carseat!  My parents have the Britax Marathon and that one is nice too and a little cheaper.  Britax is normally a bit pricier, but SO worth it.  Plus, you can find great deals online quite often.
