Snack ideas (NBR)

BFing makes me sooooooo hungry.  It's hard b/c I'm a snacker as it is so I feel like I'm constantly eating.  I need to start eating healthier so what are some of your favorite snacks?  What do you eat if you have an intense craving for chocolate or something salty?  I need healthy alternatives and try to always have fruit on hand, but I want to get some things to keep in my desk at work since that's where I snack the most.

  • For sweet cravings, things like granola (and there are some cereals and granolas with chocolate in them), greek yogurt (I would think the protein would be good nutrition espec while nursing), dried fruit

    Salty - hummus & veggies or crackers, flavored rice cakes, rice cakes with PB, string cheese, veggies & dip, nuts

    Sometimes I just eat a pint of cherry tomatoes or berries :)

  • When I was pumping all the time I loved these "breakfast to go" pouches by Emerald Nuts. They are near the granola bars in the store. The banana peanut butter one was really filling and satisfied my sweet tooth. Inside every box is a $1.50 off 2 coupon so I just kept buying them.

  • When I was BFing I loved salty snacks. I would usually have 5-6 triscuits and a cheese stick, or a handful of almonds or cashews. Other snacks I liked were dried fruit, a mini bagel with cream cheese, toast with almond butter, flavored rice cakes (usually the caramel or chocolate ones), fruit like watermelon or grapes, and yogurt.

  • Cheese sticks....the stringy cheese ones.  I've also been doing a handful of nuts.
