Ladies, Longhorn's husband fell ill about three months ago and was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome and has become paralyzed from the waist down. Right now the Dr. (his neurologist) is saying it could be anywhere from 6 months to 3 years before he is well.
The New Braunfels Elks Lodge is putting together a fundraiser for the Longhorns (as small business owners, they don't have health insurance). The fundraiser is going to include raffle tickets, BBQ dinner and a silent auction and will be held on Nov. 2nd at the Elks Lodge in NB.
What they need help with are the following: First and foremost, prayers, positive thoughts, support, messages of strenghth, and hugs. Second, if anyone has anything that they would like to donate for the silent auction, please let us know. I will be taking all donations from Austin down Lonhorn at the end of this month and I can come to you to pick up. If you don't have items to donate, there is a paypall account and I will update with that information if you would like to make a monatary donation. Or if you would like to attend the fundraiser on the 2nd there are amazing items already up for the raffle and silent auction which include: Remington Deer Rifle with scope (choice of caliber), Guided fishing trip to Port O'Connor with cabin, Weekend stay at a vacation home in New Braunfels, Guided 4 hour fishing trip to Canyon Lake, Hand made jewelry, Two limited prints, Cube Cooler, Oil Change and detail from Blue Bonnet Motors, His and her trail bikes, Oil Change from M&J and more.
Please email me at lainaustin at yahoo dot com if you would like to donate, buy tix, or any other information. And please send all of the love, thoughts, prayers and support that you have to the Longhorn family. Thanks!
BTW, I have asked Longhorn for permission to post this and she has given her blessing.

I think the date is actually Dec. 2. That's what my e-vite said.
Ha! No problem. I still think it's October.
Ditto. I bought the very first raffle ticket this morning! I would have bought more had I more cash on me.
Lots of great stuff being raffled/silently auctioned! Please consider helping out, I know they would really appreciate it!
Guillain Barre Syndrome is scary-- my grandmother had it when I was a little girl and nearly died multiple times. I think what finally saved her is she was losing so much blood through an ulcer complication they gave her two blood transfusions basically replacing all her blood. Please pass on to Longhorn this was 20 years ago and she made a full recovery within a year. Plus she was old so I'm sure her hubby is much stronger!
Let me know when you have paypal set up.

Totally agree.
DH will be at work that night, but if anyone else would like to carpool I'm pretty sure I will be attending.
