s/o time change: toddler bedtime

Max has been pushing his bedtime back further and further. What is or was your toddlers bedtime? For the longest time it was 7, that was so nice. We've pushed it to 8, but sometimes it can run a little later. Sometimes whenever he is in bed on time we can hear him in bed talking to himself up until 8:30 or 9. If he stays up later, he usually goes right to sleep. I'd prefer to keep his bedtime at 8pm.

His schedule: 8am wake up, 1:30 nap - 1.5 hours, 8pm bedtime.

Re: s/o time change: toddler bedtime

  • 8-9am wakeup, nap around 12:30-1 for 2.5 hours, bedtime at 9.  Up until recently she had been going to bed at 10 (shoot me now) but we finally pushed it up.

I'm worried the time change is going to be disastrous.

  • Generally between 7 & 8. Before he got the boot from preschool, he was going to bed earlier b/c he was so worn out. But now that he's back with his sitter, he's usually good for bed at 7:45 or so.

  • Bedtime is 7:30, but she can go to bed as early as 7 or as late as 8 and it makes no difference. She sleeps 'til 8ish on weekends but we have to get her up at 7:15/7:30 on week days.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • DD goes to bed between 8:30-9, sometimes she's up talking/reading/playing in her room until 9:30. she wakes up between 6:30-7:00 most days and takes a 1.5 hour nap about 4 out of 7 days. i wish she needed more sleep!

  • DD goes to bed between 7-730 sometimes 8 if things have been off that day.  She normally wakes up around 830, nap at 1030 for ~1.5 hours and nap at 330 for about 1-1.5 hours.

I can't believe she hasn't dropped a nap yet.  She's been on 2 naps since about 1 year, and hasn't shown any real signs of dropping her morning one.  I don't know how we're going to handle the time change or a possible later bedtime some day... oi.

  • I am jealous of how much most of your kids sleep! DD goes to bed around 8:45 and lately has been waking up around 6:00. She used to wake up even earlier, so we pushed her bedtime from 8:00 to 8:30 and that got her sleeping-in later. However, she used to sleep until 6:45, so if these 6am wakes ups continue, I may have to push her bedtime to 9:00.

  • DD goes to bed between 8:30 and 9 and we wake her up at 6:15 during the week to get ready for daycare. She naps for 2-3 hours there. On the weekends she's up until whenever and usually sleeps in until 8-9 and usually doesn't nap.
  • DD is *in* her crib anywhere between 7:30-8:30.  She almost always stays up reading books/singing songs for anywhere from 5-90 minutes but I figure that since she's in there chilling quietly that it isn't a big deal and she is resting on some level.

She wakes up between 7:30-8:30, depending on what time she went to bed, how much she napped the day before, how much noise is happening on the street, etc.

For naps, she is in her crib anywhere from 2-4 hours each day.  Again, she isn't always sleeping the entire time but if she is happy in her crib I'm going to leave her there.

  • my 22 mo old is going to bed close to 8:30. this is also when his older brothers go to bed. however, he is often up at 5:30a for the day. he sleeps ~ 2hrs for nap. I can not wait for the time change this weekend as I think it will help get everyone to bed earlier, and hopefully have an easier time in the am getting the older ones awake & ready for school. (and i'm also hoping an earlier bedtime for #3 will get him sleeping longer in the AMs!)
  • weekdays- bed at 8pm and up by 6:30 (have to get up to get older one to school) but he often wakes on his own even before that.  He naps for 2-3 hours, usually 12:30-3:30pm.  I've been trying to keep him up til 8:30-9pm on weekends in hops he we sleep past 7am (about the latest he ever sleeps in) but have had no luck.
