baby movement

I'm almost 25 weeks along and I'm not sure how often I should be feeling the baby. Some days I feel baby move around and then a day or 2 goes by and its not much at all. Is this ok?

Re: baby movement

  • I had what seemed like a lot of movement around 23 weeks or so, then between weeks 24 and 25 it seemed to slow down quite a bit. There were days where I thought I didn't feel him at all. My MW told me not to be concerned because it is more than likely due to how he was positioned at the time and once I got further into 25 weeks I started feeling him a lot more often.

  • I have noticed that when my LO is facing out and kicking/hitting higher up, I can count 10-20 movements in a short period of time . . . If he/she is situated lower or turned so his/her little hands and feet are kicking in, I can go long periods of time without feeling anything.

I wouldn't worry too much . . . especially since the little ones aren't super big yet. My mw mentioned that kick counts aren't really accurate/necessary until you get to the 28th week.

  • I just started feeling LO the past 2 weeks and sometimes I feel him a couple times during the day, not all day and then a little at night, or not at all for a day or 2. I had a Dr. appt. on Tue and the doctor asked if I felt movement- I said "a little"- and he told me that's all I should feel. I also have anterior placenta.
  • I just started to feel mine recently.  It's still very sporadic.  I usually only feel a few movements once or twice a day.  There have been some days where I didn't feel anything. I also have an anterior placenta.  Going to the doctor on Monday so I will ask him about it but I think it must be ok.
  • I didn't really feel her move a lot if any before 20 weeks, Since then she moves more and more and I want to say around 23-24 weeks it seemed like she slowed down. That or I was too busy/active to notice every movement.

  • I was feeling baby move tons on Tuesday and Wednesday, then yesterday I only felt her a little on what seemed to be the opposite side of where she normally kicks. Between last night and this morning, I've only felt really subtle kicks that are hard to distinguish from her kicking or just gas bubbles in there. My guess is that she's turned over to a different position, so I just feel her less. I'll admit it gets my back up when I don't feel her constantly, but I also know that it is normal at this point, and it's probably nothing we should worry about.
  • I felt LO by 23 weeks, but everyone advances at a different pace. Even flutters are something!

  • I definitely have days where I don't feel her as much.

  • I just asked my dr about this last week because some days I feel her a TON and other days not much at all.  He mentioned that a lot of times the lack of feeling the movement is because we're so busy with our day that we don't even notice, but he also said if it was to the point where I was concerned I should have a snack/drink and lay down on my left side for a bit.

And it's worked so far!  Yesterday I wasn't really feeling anything, so I tried that.  She started wiggling after just a couple of minutes.  :)
