Pregnant after a Loss

~*~*~*~December Mamas Check In~*~*~*~

Apologies that this is a late check-in. I'm having a rough week and I took a break from posting but I'm back. I missed everyone and I need you all.

Now, it's check in time! It's November! O.M.G.! We will be having our babies soon! Especially you early December Mamas! How exciting!

So it's reality check time!

What do you still need to do before LO gets here?

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you?

Any milestones? Updates?

Remember to let me know if you have decided on a name - I'll keep this going til the end b/c I'm one of those people who doesn't have a name yet - yikes!

  • Things I still need to do...pretty much bring out everything from DS and just make sure it's cleaned up nicely...bottles, swing, etc.  Still need to set up the pack and play in our bedroom but I probably won't do that until mid-December. :)

My plan is actually to get my Christmas stuff done this month and then baby stuff when it's more relevant (closer to mid Dec).  I'm glad I started already since the Christmas things I've thus ordered so far will be here the week of Thanksgiving...taking much longer than I expected!

Milestone would be I feel a huge relief now that we have solid name picks.  Update is that last night I had the worst case of reflux EVER and I thought I was going to die.  Luckily it was gone this morning.  That will teach me to even try to eat Halloween candy...darn it.

  • What do you still need to do before LO gets here? Actually, the only things that I need to get done are to wash everything. I got taken out of work this week because I've been having contractions that are five minutes apart, and they weren't sure if it had to do with a bladder infection or not. I'm going to my doctor's this morning to see what the results were, but despite already taking the antibiotic I am still getting them, so I'm just hoping that I haven't progressed at all and that I have an "irritable uterus", which basically means that I may continue with the contractions until I give birth - it's always been my goal to make it to at least 40 weeks on the dot. Anyways, it was kind of my reality check that if a baby came into our house tomorrow, I did not feel prepared, so I spent my time at home on the computer ordering all of the things I still needed.

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you?  I was going to wait until I got the last of the little necessary clothing in the mail to start washing everything, but I think I'm actually going to start it today, just in case.

Any milestones? Updates? My favorite milestone that passed was 35/35. It was funny though, because when it passed my husband asked what it meant, and I told him that I was 35 weeks with 35 days left. Then we both kind of hyperventilated about it a bit. Now I'm just hoping that I will get a full 35 (well now 28) days!

Also, don't worry about not picking a name yet. You've still got plenty of time. We haven't picked out a name, but we have several that we're considering. I'm pretty sure that we have a definite first name, and several options for a middle name, but we want to wait until we meet our daughter before setting it in stone what her name is going to be. So even if you have your son before naming him, maybe there will just be one that jumps out at you and your SO when you see his face.

  • What do you still need to do before LO gets here?

The list is slightly scary right now of things we need to do. 1st we are going to BRU this weekend to try and get the rest of the essentials with the gift cards we got from the shower. I need to schedule a tour of L&D at the hospital. I want to have a living will drawn up just in case and frankly we should have done this long ago. I need to search out daycare for LO when I go back to work... and I need to let me boss know that instead of the 6w short term disability I want to take the 12w non paid leave... that he conveniently left out of the conversation. It will be tougher non paid but 6w seems like no time at all.

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you?

Half and half really. We'll get there. =)

If you are talking about FMLA, you should be eligible for both your 6 week paid leave and the 12 week unpaid leave. They run concurrently, so you would only get the 12 weeks, not 18, but you will be paid for the first 6 of it. It's definitely worth looking into, giving up 6 weeks of paid leave that you are eligible for would suck.

  • I can't believe that it's November and our babies will be here shortly!  It's definitely time for a reality check!  ;-)

What do you still need to do before LO gets here?

I still have plenty to do...  I haven't finished the nursery yet, but I have the major components - crib, dresser with changing pad and a gilder!  I need to organize the dresser and changing station and put up wall shelves.  I still need baby toiletries, medicines, NB diapers and that kinda stuff.  I think I have most of the gear and clothing that I need, at least to get started.  I'll start washing clothes, pack my hospital bag, and install the car seat in the next couple weeks.

NBR, I wanted to get Christmas shopping done soon and get the rest of the house organized.

    Any milestones? Updates?

We are taking our childbirth class and a tour of the hospital this weekend!  I'm planning to take a breastfeeding class next week.  I'm so nervous about the childbirth class - I've been avoiding thinking about the actual delivery!

We haven't decided on a name for our baby girl yet, but we have a couple top choices.  I may need to wait until I meet her to make a final decision, but I hope we can decide sooner than later.  I'm actually the one being more indecisive, not DH.

  • What do you still need to do before LO gets here? Getting a lot done this weekend. My mom is coming today to help finish decorating the nursery and to start washing Noah's clothes! Tomorrow, DH and I are heading to Madison to get the last of the things we need yet bought so we can be ready to go.

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you?  Time is going by so fast, but I have been trying to get a little done each day so it doesn't seem like a rush to finish things.

Any milestones? Updates? I posted earlier in the week about this, but I have another growth u/s next Friday to see how big baby boy is. At 31 wks, he was already 5lbs 6oz. My fundal height on Monday (34 weeks) was 40.5.... so I have a discussion with my OB and we have decided that if the u/s shows he's still quite large, then we will schedule an induction date  for Dec 6th... if he doesn't come naturally before then.

  • I've got a lot to do still but I'm not going to have a c-section until the end of Deember. I'm pretty uncomfortable but I'm glad to be at the end. 8 more weeks for me!!
  • What do you still need to do before LO gets here? Ahhh, there's so much we still need to get done! Being in L&D was our big wake-up call- all of a sudden it went from "oh we still have a ton of time to get all of this" to "we could be having a baby any day now." I have a list on my computer that just seems to stare me in the face every day. We still don't have a PnP, crib sheets, enough diapers or clothes. And then of course there's all those nesting type things that I can't do now that I'm on bed rest.

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you? The plan was originally to buy a little every week between now and December, and do all the little things around the house as they came up. Now the plan is buy everything by the end of next week, and trust DH to get the house cleaned up as best he can and let go of the rest.

Any milestones? Updates? Still on bed rest, but at my last appointment I was told there was a good probability that if everything still looks good next Friday, that my restrictions will be eased up a bit.

  • What do you still need to do before LO gets here?

We still need a place for him to sleep.  We don't have room for a crib for the first 4-5 months (until we move) so we ordered a pack n play with a bassinet that delivery was delayed for over a month and then we just got notice this week that it's been recalled.  So...we picked a new one online yesterday and are hoping DH can get it from Babies R Us this weekend.  Other than that, we're pretty well set except for needing more tiny clothes.  We've got TONS of 0-3 from the shower and a few newborns but not sure how much to buy of newborn or preemie.  He's only a little more than 3 lbs now but will likely spend a little time in the NICU so we might not need the preemie sizes by the time he comes home.  The plan is to send the grandma's to Kohl's with our gift card to buy a few preemie outfits last minute if it turns out we need them.   They both seemed happy with the plan.

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you?

See above.  I can't really do much with bed-rest but I can shop online and send DH out when needed.  He's really been amazing with taking care of everything.

    Any milestones? Updates?

Baby is now measuring 3 lbs, 2 oz and we'll be scheduling our induction in another 2-3 weeks assuming everything else keeps going well.  Looks like a turkey baby for us!

  • What do you still need to do before LO gets here?  Finish the nursery (which includes everything from painting to getting furniture for it). I definitely need to get over my insane anxiety about our LO actually living with us. For some reason it didn't really click in my brain that I wasn't going to be able to spoil her & send her "home" until 2 weeks ago. This will be her home. I can't send her anywhere after spoiling her, people will be doing that to us. YIKES!

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you? A little of both. I have a plan, but it's not working out so well. I have all of these things I want to do, & no motivation to do them.

Any milestones? Updates? 32 weeks, more doctors appts, mat. pics tomorrow. That about sums it up this week.

  • What do you still need to do before LO gets here? Ugh, what do I NOT need to do?! We moved a week ago, the day AFTER my shower. So, I am just now getting to unpacking the nursery, now I am looking at the crib & changing table boxes begging to be put together! PLUS, I got motivated last night and fianlly opened up the Tree Wall Decal I ordered, and it's missing 2 parts that I must have in order to start it :-/ I have my work baby shower next week, so after that, we will go through the list of must have baby items we will need to purchase before LO comes. And, we have our birthing class next Tuesday...should be interesting!

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you?  Ummm, it's been like a time warp zone for me. The weeks just seem to fly by, and THANKSGIVING...OMG don't even want to start thinking about that!

Any milestones? Updates? I will have a 3D/4D ultrasound next week so I am excited to see my little man in more detail!

  • We still have a little left to do.  Mostly just getting the house really clean, packing our bags, buying a couple of things we still need.  The nursery is almost finished.  I am washing the crib sheets right now.  I have washed all of his newborn clothes and blankets.  I need to sterilize bottles and pacifiers and my breast pump.  I plan on cleaning tomorrow and to start packing the bag.  Then I will work on a little more each weekend.  Milestones:  I signed the circumcision consent today at my appt.  That makes it seem so close!

  • Thanks for posting the check-in, Karma - I hope all is ok with you.

    So it's reality check time!

What do you still need to do before LO gets here?

What DON'T I need to do??? I still have to wash clothes, set up the co-sleeper and changing table, install the car seat, clean up this horrid house, cook some meals to freeze.  Blah.  I'm overwhelmed, lol.

Do you have a plan to get it all done or does time just seem to be flying out of control for you?

I'm just trying to fit in whatever I have the energy to do every night.  DH has been great, but he's been real sick this week, so I haven't asked much of him so he can get well.  This weekend is a bust for me, since I have a big project for work I need to do, but I'm thinking next weekend will be a blockbuster for getting stuff done.

    Any milestones? Updates?

This week was 35/35 for me.  Little Bean is still kicking around a lot, so there is still room to move in there.  I'm hoping the kid isn't the 10 lb. juggernaut I fear, lol.
