s/o leaving kids - it is nice

the most I've been away from DD 2 consecutive nights (when she 18ish months) , but man it was awesome.  The first nigth was good, but by the second night - I was so relaxed and slept more and better than I had since before I was pregnant, my whole body was just "refreshed."  And, she's pretty low maintenance, but I'm always thinking about when did she eat, has she had enough veggies today, does she need to take a nap, what time will she go to sleep tonight, etc., etc.

  • I am flying to Florida the beginning of December with my youngest and leaving her for two days with my in-laws while I attend a workshop..... She is a little over a year and I have yet to be away from her for a night.  Kind of nervous about it!!

  • Yes, as much as I miss DS, having those few day a totally unable to deal with home, kid, responsibilities is so freeing.

  • Broken record here, but I have the most laid back baby ever and the 3 nights I've spent without her have all been fantastic!

Same here, J was such a good baby, and is still pretty laid back. And like you said in another post, I was also that PG woman that said "I don't ever see myself having my baby spend the night away from me," but then at like 8 weeks we were totally drained and my mom said "just bring him here for one night, bring him over at like 10, and get a good night sleep, and come over first thing in the morning." It was HEAVEN, DH and I were totally recharged, we got uninteruped sleep, and maybe did a bit more together with our baby-less time ;). And my mom loved it, she acutally liked getting up with him every 5 hours to feed and take care of him, don't get me wrong, she was happy to only do it for one night, but I think she enjoyed a reminder of what it was like to have a tiny baby...but only for one night. And 3 weeks later we did the same thing with our IL's. But I can see where, if you don't 100% trust your parents or IL's, and don't have a good relationship with them how it could be stressful. I know my parents and IL's don't do things exactly the same way we do, but they love him fiercely and want only what is best for him, so we can leave J with them and have no worries at all.
