Having gone through it a couple times now - I say just do it. They'll adjust. You can stagger it if you wish and go a little day by day but it usually doesn't make a huge difference. A lot of a child's circadian rythym is based on the sun, melatonin production etc. They also rely heavily on situational cues - dinner, bath, book, jammies = bedtime. Birds tweeting means it's time to wake up mommy too
So if you want bedtime to stay the same "time". Just keep it the same time. You may have a week or so of transitional adjustment but in my experience, moving a little at a time didn't do anything but make the process take longer. The wake up time - I don't know about your schedule with respect to work or childcare etc, but no good can come of waking a baby up in the morning if you can help it! Emily is a mess if I even go and get her when she first squawks but isn't quite awake yet.
No magic recipe. Just stick with the time and routine and they'll get it. For kids with a too late bedtime, this can be a good time to move it forward.
Ditto Taytee. Every year we talk about starting early and going in increments, but we either forget or get lazy. There's usually a fee days of adjustment, but it's never been a big issue for us. ::crosses fingers and toes::
