OB recs near Groton/Norwich

I'm hoping for a VBAC, but I'm not sure if that's an option for me. If not, I'm just looking for a decent OB in a small practice. I went to Thameside in Groton last time, and wasn't exactly impressed with some of the doctors. Anyone have an OB they absolutely loved?

    Well, it isn't a small practice but I love the doctors. Ob-Gyn of Norwich. Dr. Marchand and Dr. Kalla were awesome with the birth of both my girls. My second was a really tough pregnancy and I was really really impressed with how Dr. Kalla handled it. There is only one doctor that I wasn't all the impressed with but I think it was a personality thing too.

    If your insurance will cover it, Dr. Neuhauser in Westerly, RI. He is the only doctor with a nurse and a receptionist. You only see him as your doctor (no RN or midwife). You will deliver in Westerly Hospital, but it was amazing. They don't do VBACs though. 

     

    Good Luck. I plan to use him for my second one!

    Dr Simpson in New London.  He's a 1 doc practice with 2 NP's.  He is covered by Thamesside at the hospital though.  So you could still end up with a Thamseside doc for delivery. I adored Dr S and would never go to anyone else.

    Thanks for the responses. I ended up being assigned Dr Simpson through Tricare since I wasn't sure who to go to at the time I got my referral. I'm not convinced they're completely VBAC friendly yet (haven't seen the doc yet), but they seem really nice, and so far I love them so much better than Thameside. It's worth the extra 20 minutes to get there.

    From my own experience with him, and a few friends, I will tell you that he is VERY pro-vaginal delivery.  Now I didn't VBAC but I was able to vaginally deliver twins and I swear it was him and Val (his nurse) that gave me the encouragement and confidence to do it. They were my 2nd (and 3rd) deliveries. I was also able to vaginally deliver my first. I can 100% say that he is going to do whatever he needs to do to make sure that you and your baby get the very best care and are taken care of.  Make sure you always talk to him about anything on your mind, and don't be afraid to call the office.  I had him call me back at 8pm one time because he had just finished a few deliveries but knew I was worried and needed to speak with him. A friend of mine is due in Dec and she is also a patient of his. She started her 2nd tri with a full previa, which has since moved, and was on full rest & restriction. And somehow, and I was hospitalized several times during my twin pregnancy also, he always makes everything feel ok.  He just has a way about him that makes everything feel better and puts the mind at ease. I wish you the very best with your pregnancy and am sending you lots of positive VBAC thoughts!
