fashion question re: riding style boots

I just bought some tall boots but I am short so they come to my knee's (almost)  - whats the proper height?  Will I look shorter and silly in them?  I really like the style of them - flat, with a buckle, fairly casual (good for leggings and skinny jeans).

Thoughts?

Re: fashion question re: riding style boots

  • I think it depends on the style of the boot. If it is a riding boot with a higher front than back, then it is okay for them to cover your knee (in fact, they are intended to) if they are uniform in height, then I think they should hit below the knee (or be intentionally midcalf) so they look proportional.

  • hum, mine are not higher in the front.  When I stand up straight they hit about 3 inches below the middle of my knee cap.

That sounds right. My riding-style boots hit about there too. I think as long as they're below the kneecap and not covering any of it, you should be good.

Agree with this as well.  Also, keep in mind that when the boots are the same color as your leggings/pants/tights, the height doesn't matter as much b/c they'll elongate your legs since they're all the same color.  It's when they're a different color (so tan boots with jeans) and the height hits knee-length (for ex) that they may truncate your legs a bit.
