Un-freakin-believable.
I had about 2 large trashbags full of warm winter clothes (3T) that Gisele wasn't going to wear. So I decided to try to help some people out and I offered them on Freecycle.org
I had about 6 families who showed an interest- and I asked what each family was in real need of (clothing wise- shirts? PJs? coats? etc) so I could diivy it up to really give each family what they needed. I got back to each person individually politely requesting that it is picked up by Sunday afternoon (gave them ALL WEEK to pick up at their convenience)..... ONLY ONE parent emailed me back to arrange pick up. I gave her more than half- and dropped the rest off at good will.
One of the moms )who wrote me this SOB story about how desperately her child needs warm winter clothes etc) WAS IRATE at me and sent me this nasty email when she wanted to pick the clothes up TWO WEEKS LATER (and I replied back they were all gone).
She emails me that she is REALLY BUSY and she has a 3yr old that takes up a lot of her time. UMM really? Like your time is more important than anyone else's??? I don't think so. -- She said, I can't believe you gave away the clothes you promised me... how dare you etc.
She replies back, that I should have called her and she doesn't check her email that much because 'her daughter needs my undivided attention and I give her that.'
Well okay then, hope your daughter is warm when you are giving her all that undivided attention.
OMG- WTF is wrong with people??? There was WELL more than 300.00 worth of clothing in those 2 bags- and people seriously cannot reply back to pick up free things.
I should have skipped trying to do the right thing and just dumped it all off at Goodwill and took the tax write off. Some days- I really can't stand people.
Re: Vent: Some people have real BALLS!
Oh my, that is balls of titanium.
I'm sorry that happened to you. Also her excuses are crazy. She couldn't check her email while her daughter was asleep? I think taking care of your child includes that they are adequately clothed and fed.
Block her emails, and remember you did end up helping a family and that's what's important.
That is annoying!!
A similar thing happened a few months ago, when we were trying to get rid of DD's crib. I posted on facebook "free to a good home, just pick it up this Saturday" (5 days notice). Two friends were interested. Friend A was the first to ask me, so I told her that she could have it, and gave her my cell # and directions to my house, and said anytime Saturday was fine. Saturday came and went, she never showed up. So on Sunday morning I called Friend B and she said she could pick it up in an hour.
Friend A had the nerve to send me a nasty email because I didn't hold it for her. WTF??
My husband works for Whole Foods and has seen plenty of them. It's annoying to me that the government is paying for people to shop there when their own employees can't even afford to do all their shopping there.
Ha! I would, but so many things in my day need my undivided attention right now. I mean, those soaps aren't gonna watch themselves.

I agree, I could never work for a grocery store bc I'd totally call someone out. I see ppl like what I described in our grocery stores all the time too. I don't knock anyone who is actually in need, but if you can afford brand new Nikes and have your nails done then I don't consider you needy.
I'm not against our welfare system as a whole, but I have seen plenty of abuses. I think it's naive to say it doesn't happen.
