Vegas

My DH and I are going to Vegas in February for a wedding, and we're not sure where to stay.  The bride and groom will be at Treasure Island, but the pool at TI is closed for the whole month of Jan and Feb, so we'd like to stay somewhere else.  (We're not big gamblers or drinkers, so a pool is a major plus, especially in Feb)

Any recommendations?

Re: Vegas

  • We stayed at Excalibur, but only because it was super cheap.  We went in March, and I think that it was kind of chilly, so we did not use the pool.  I want to say the only nice day was the day that we rented a motorcycle to take a day trip.

Anyway, Mandalay Bay is supposed to have a really nice pool, but it is far away from Treasure Island.  There is a tram that runs the length of the strip, but it is still quite a walk to get to the tram from Mandalay Bay, from what I remember.  We ate at a bunch of the restaurants there and it was super good, but I think that it was quite prcey to stay there...but you could treat yourself :).  I had a friend who stayed at TI and said that it was nice, but I am not sure about what their pool is like.

  • we stayed at the Westin.  It is a block off of the strip. We were trying to get points towards our wedding so we were loyal to the brand.  The hotel was nice for as long as we rere there.  we had so many activities to go to that we were barely in our room.
  • We've stayed at the Flamingo a bunch of times and their pool is awesome. Honestly though, I don't know how many places will have an outdoor pool open in Feb-it does get cool there at that time of year
  • We stayed at the Wynn Encore- and we loved it! we were at the outdoor pool (they have 2) most of the time and I *think* they have an indoor pool as well...

  • Thanks Ladies!  I think we're going to stay at Treasure Island after all because it is way cheaper than some of the other hotels we were looking at, and I want to be where everyone else is staying.

DH and I are going to Punta Cana the week after, so we will have plenty of pool time there, he just doesn't know what we are going to do in Vegas during the day (we'll have his 17 yr-old sister with us too).

I was going to say that most of the hotel pools aren't open yet in February.  :(

Believe me...there is a lot to do in Vegas other than gambling.  Checking out the hotels and walking the strip can take a whole afternoon if not longer.  Go to the top of the stratosphere(in the evening if you can), that's pretty cool.  J wouldn't go outside on the observation deck.  It made me laugh.  There's lots of shows in the evening as well.  Lots of shopping!  Amazing food, and good people watching.  Then if you want to travel outside of Vegas, the old city is pretty cool.  It's like a graveyard for a lot of the old hotels, and ofcourse the grand canyon is close as well.  I"m jealous!
