Hi Birth Club (and anyone else interested in this topic)!
I know this isn't a fun, exciting thing to talk about, but I have experienced bleeding from cervical polyps throughout my first and part of my second trimester, and I could find very few resources online to further my understanding, and reassure my worries! I never had a problem with cervical polyps (small growths on the cervix) before getting pregnant, but when I started to spot bright red around 7 weeks, I was spooked. It has continued throughout the pregnancy thus far, occurring once every week or so, usually following a BM. (sorry for the graphic info). Although I really like and trust my doctor, I always left my appointment feeling like all my questions were not answered. Or I would come up with additional questions on my walk through the parking lot to my car! I guess the main reason I wanted to post, was so women who are having spotting and bleeding (and I know how stressful and worrisome this is, especially if it continues to occur!), know that cervical polyps tend to occur quite frequently in pregnancy due to drastic hormonal changes needed to supply the baby with what it needs to grow! That said, if you are having this kind of bleeding after going to the bathroom, know that it could be those pesky little growths that are in no way harmful to the baby. My doctor indicated that I didn't need to call after every instance of spotting unless it was like a period flow, and also said that they don't affect baby in-utero or during delivery. I hope this helps any women who are stressing from this problem! Good luck in all of you pregnancies
And hey, if anyone has any recommendations for a good jogging stroller that is compatible with a great infant car seat, please share!!!
Re: Cervical Polyps
Oh I have one of those fun little guys too! Mine started as red spotting, just about once a week and the last time it happened it was WORSE than any period I have ever experienced. Shorter, but heavier. Even knowing what it was, the experience was horrific. Mine was in a really bad spot, right near the opening of my cervix, so they refused to mess with it. They think it may have moved on up into hiding and hopefully it will just fall off during delivery
Add more yuminess to that whole experience
Mine has slowed down since hitting about 16 weeks I think. Once everything started to move up and I "popped".
