1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? Since everyone on here knew my beta was that day, yes you all knew before most of my friends and family. We did tell some right away, but mostly we told people after the 1st u/s or after the 1st tri depending on how close we were to them.
2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc? Mostly it was to let DH deal with his feelings about having a boy. He always thought he would have a girl, and his parents lost a daughter between him and his brother, so hearing that we weren't giving them a granddaughter was very very hard for him.
3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? I loved my belly, the attention, the way my body looked in the 2nd and third tri.
L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? If it didn't, what information or tools do you wish you'd had? Took a bradley class and loved it!
TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)? We winged it because I could roughly tell when I ovulated each month. I guess we were lucky because it only took one cycle to conceive.
1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? Yes, you all knew before everyone except for our parents, if I remember correctly, because I was scared with all of the bleeding I had during the first weeks.
2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc? We were team green.
3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? I think feeling the baby moving around was my favorite part.
L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? If it didn't, what information or tools do you wish you'd had? We took a childbirth class that was very informative. I felt prepared for anything to happen which is why I wasn't really stressed when my doctor tried to induce me, then later told me I had to have a c-section.
First days: If your baby seems extra active at a certain time of day in utero, did that same behaviour continue at the same time after he or she was born? She was more active at night and I guess that was the case during the first month.
Updates: She is almost crawling and a tooth broke through last night, which means I am a zombie this morning.
DD2: February 2014
TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)? Once I went off the pill, I started charting immediately. After I miscarried the first time, I went right back to charting. After the second miscarriage, I was a bit more lax and was sorta charting--I'd indicate when I started bleeding and when it ended, but I didn't do as much temp charting. And then I got pregnant the next month.
1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?Yes, I told the Nest first. Having just had a miscarriage a month before, I didn't think this was going to stick. I thought there was a chance fellow nesties might say something on FB, so I made sure no one said anything there. I broke the news fairly early--9 weeks--so it wasn't a concern for long.
2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc? Not keeping gender or name a secret. I was just too excited!
3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? So far, I love the belly bump and I love feeling her move.
1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?I did because I really needed the support of the multiples board. We didn't announce until 13 weeks so it was too long to go without any support.
2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?N/A
TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?
After our first consult visit to the RE, she was able to tell me that I o'd at 14 days based on my follicle size and what it looked like. I did not keep track after that or before because we knew we had some sort of problem conceiving, just not sure what.
1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?Yes, because my beta was in my signature and I frequent other message board sections on here. We've told DH's immediate family & my immediate family (mom & sis) and 1-2 close friends. I'm wanting to tell the rest of the family between 8-13 weeks. I have first u/s at my RE's office next week.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? I think I came out on the Nest first. I wasn't super concerned but I do know a few people IRL that I think are lurkers so I was cautious.
2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?n/a
3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? Feeling the baby move is so awesome, I kind of miss it now.
L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? We took a class led by one of the L&D nurses at our hospital and read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? I don't think that the class alone would have prepared us as much as I wanted. Taking the class in conjunction to doing some of our own research was great. Granted, we missed 1 session of 4 and R was born before our make-up session
For next time I am interested in the Bradley classes, I would have really liked something that focused more on med-free labor.
First days: If your baby seems extra active at a certain time of day in utero, did that same behaviour continue at the same time after he or she was born? He was super active around 10-11 pm in utero and he did have a wakeful period for the first 2 months.
1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow? I told my and DH's immediate family right away and the bump right away.
2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc? N/A
3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant? I love feeling her move - especially the big belly shaking movements.
L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? If it didn't, what information or tools do you wish you'd had? I have done very little. I had such a great experience with the nurses where I delivered last time I feel pretty confident they will guide me just as well this time.
Updates: I can't believe I have less than 50 days left! It has gone so slowly yet now the time is coming soon. I have been feeling pretty good but my swelling has come back and doesn't ever go away.
TTC: If you are/were actively TTC, are you winging it or tracking your ovulation? If you were winging it, but now track, how long did you wait before switching to charting or OPKs (or some other method)?
We practiced FAM to avoid for a year before TTC, so charting.
1st trimester: Did you tell your fellow Nesties before telling friends and family/ Were you worried friends or family might find out from the Nest somehow?
No, family and close/most friends knew first.
2nd trimester: If you know the gender, but are keeping it a secret, what's your motivation for that - privacy, surprise, etc?
We didn't know the sex, team green.
3rd trimester: Looking back, what has been your favorite part about being pregnant?
Definitely feeling him kick and move around. I miss it, and still have occasional "phantom" kicks.
L&D: What kind of preparation did you do for the labor and delivery? If you took a class, what did you take and do you feel like it prepared you well enough? If it didn't, what information or tools do you wish you'd had?
We took Bradley classes, and a Saturday "Tools for Labor" class at a local place. Bradley was super informative and I feel like it taught us (and especially my H) a lot about L&D and what to expect, but I liked that we actually practiced comfort positions in Tools for Labor.
First days: If your baby seems extra active at a certain time of day in utero, did that same behaviour continue at the same time after he or she was born?
Yes, he had his days and nights mixed up, much like how he was in utero.
I've been charting since the moment I stopped taking BCP. Since I have PCOS, I wanted to confirm that I did, or did not, ovulate.
