Cyst or ectopic... Waiting game

My title pretty much says it all. My RE isn't sure what is going on. My cramps became excruciating after I got to the REs office. I couldn't breath with pain radiating around my back and down my thigh on the right side. There is definitely blood in my right tube and right ovary. There "might" be "something in my tube too. No sign of gestational sac in my uterus at all but he really didn't seem concerned by that. He swore he wasn't expecting to see a thing at 4w6d anyway. I'm not so sure.
After a painful exam, my cramping actually completely went away. Five minutes later while getting some blood work done the cramping picked back up.
I'm supposed to call if the cramping becomes excruciating again and lasts more than 10-20 minutes.
I'm a little concerned that I have a higher than average pain tolerance and the really awful cramps I've got right now should really warrant me going right back to the office. But they aren't as bad as they were.
Does anyone else have any experience with either a cyst or ectopic? What was your pain like?

LK arrived after 42 weeks on August 14, 2013! Beautiful, healthy, and happy!

Surprise BFP#5 February 19, 2015 EDD: November 2, 2015
Betas: 10dpo: 10, 14dpo: 77, 17dpo: 270
First Ultrasound at 5w1d showed a miracle UTE baby! And right ovary ovulation to left fallopian tube.
JD arrived at 38 weeks on October 20, 2015.

I'm angry for you. Really so sorry that you've got the stupid waiting game now.
It really is totally unfair. ( HUG )
I don't have any advice except to listen to your instincts regarding the pain and calling the doctor. I think being overly cautious at this point is perfectly ok. Especially considering it could be ectopic (though I really hope it's not).
I hope that the cramping stops completely and everything turns out ok.

1st U/S on 10/18 - saw gestational sac! 2nd u/s (10/25) saw a tiny fetus and saw the HB flickering away! 3rd U/S on 11/2 measuring 2 days ahead HB 138! 4th U/S 11/9 - Measured 8w1d - HB 178! released from RE 11/16 U/S - HB 180 everything On track!

I did notice a pink tinge on the tp after I got home but I have a feeling it's from the exam as it hurt a lot. I called about it and they still said to call back if the pain was worse.
I do think he's been extra cautious as he made sure I knew what to do if I needed to reach him after hours and he did extra blood work which I think was possibly in case we ended up needing emergency surgery.
We'll see. I've been googling like crazy and can't seem to find much difference in the symptoms of a ruptured cyst vs an ectopic. I'm just praying for the cyst.

During my first pregnancy, I had a cyst that ruptured at 4 weeks. The doctor told me it's common for cysts to rupture to make room for the baby. Anyway, it was extremely painful. I walked into the ER hunched over like a little old lady. I couldn't even sit up. They gave me morphine, and it still hurt. It was horrible!
They ruled out an ectopic pregnancy because when they did the pelvic exam it didn't hurt. They said if it were an ectopic pregnancy, it would hurt to the touch. Or, it would hurt driving over bumps on the way to the hospital. Instead, my pain was just constant, hard core cramping.
Unfortunately, my pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, but I spotted the entire time. So, we knew something was wrong in addition to the cyst.
I hope yours is just a cyst that ruptures and goes away. Good luck!
I have had an ovarian cyst once before and it was excruciating. I was doubled over in pain and could not move at all. I think it was horrible like that for several hours, but it was 5ish years ago so I don't remember the time clearly, just how much it hurt.
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I hope the pain subsides and that it isn't an ectopic. I don't know much about cysts during early pregnancy, but I will T&P that everything turns out okay for you.

Oh honey. I am so sorry.
I had an ectopic and I was on the floor with pain. It was so terrible - that was after my tube had burst and I was bleeding into my abdomen.
