Nursing Program

Anyone complete the nursing program with an infant?  While working or not working?  I am going BACK to school and am close to being able to apply to the nursing program and have a 3mo old DD at home and just returned to work part-time and am missing her like crazy.  I'm beginning to get nervous and doubting that I can handle going through the program with a baby.  I know it is totally do-able, don't get me wrong.  I just wonder if anyone else has any experience with this.  TIA!

Re: Nursing Program

  • This is something I would like to know too. I wanted to be a SAHM but that is gonna be impossible now. So I am going into a nursing program so me and DH can a nice combined household income.

  • I'm currently going through the exact same thing. Starting work in a month (part-time restaurant) and returning to school for Nursing in the spring. I hope I can handle juggling all three. Thankfully I have my mother's support and she offered to babysit while I work and go to school so I can make a salary someday. I'm still nervous it'll be too overwhelming for me though!

  • It is completely do able if you have a strong support system!! I worked full-time and went to school full-time while I was a single mom of 2 kids under the age of 3 it was hard but it was worth it you just need to know that you have people willing to help you out and support you all the way!!

  • I currently work 4 days per week, go to nursing school part-time and have 2 small children (as you can see from my tickers).  My DH is also in school and works FT.  Can it be done.. yes.  Is it hard as hell.. yes.  Do I want to cry every time my 2yr old begs me not to go to school and to play trains.. you bet.  Will it be worth it in the end.. I sure as hell hope so.

  • Didn't do nursing, but just completed a Physician Assistant program. I had my baby during the program. I was doing clinical rotations while pregnant (I had OB/GYN in my 9th month), and had to return to rotations 4 weeks after DS was born. It was hard to leave him, but I had a reliable sitter who I was able to drop him off at 7am and pick up at 6pm. Its finding time to study when you are home that hard. Oh, and pumping is tough as well... but thats the life of a working mom.
