My chiro is wonderful ... have been seeing him every two weeks since I got pregnant and monthly before that. He's really helped me a lot, and he's also a family friend.
So, we found out yesterday that baby is transverse breech, and I happened to already have an appointment this morning. I asked him if he was certified in Webster, and he said, "No, but I know how to do it." So he worked on my hips a bit and did a soft tissue adjustment in my belly.
I feel very comfortable with him, and I know he adjusted his wife through both her pregnancies, but is the fact that he's not certified in Webster a concern? My midwives have another great chiro they recommend who is certified in Webster and does a lot of it, and I could switch to her, but it might be a little awkward.
What would you do?
Re: Question about chiropractor/Webster
I'll preface this by saying I'm not an expert at all but I did go to a certified chiropractor when I found out that DD was breach and she never touched my belly. I went every day for over two weeks and each appointment was almost the same. I would lay face down on the table (she had a special pillow -- looked like a doughnut -- for my belly) and she would adjust my hips. It was not gentle at all. Honestly, there were a few times that I got worried because she was so forceful. Then I would roll over onto my back and she would adjust my neck and then she'd use this instrument (reminded me of a stun gun) on my pelvic region. Like I said, this was my only experience with Webster technique so I have no idea if she was doing it correctly or if the technique varies depending on where you need adjusting or how the baby is positioned.
To answer your question, yes, I would switch to a certified chiropractor. I drove over an hour each way every day with a toddler because that was the nearest certified chiropractor. And, for me, it was a success and worth all of the trouble. DD turned and I had a wonderful natural birth. Good luck!
