I was FB chatting with my best friend about how I am ready to pop and she was like, "Did you buy a hospital gown yet?" I replied with uh, I think those are provided. So she tells me how her SIL bought some fancy schmancy hospital gown so she would look good in pictures.
So I did a search on amazon and found Gownies and, LOL, Pretty Pushers. Now the first gowns are pretty cute and for 30 bucks, not too bad. The other ones are pretty ugly and her bump is SO fake.
Are you buying a gown? Or will you just bleed and pee all over a free one? LOL.
Re: Are you buying a "pretty" hospital gown?
I'm going with the free one. And by "free," I meant the one provided as I am sure that I will end up paying for it with some bill from the hospital
.
LOL - true!
Yes, because I definitely want to save money by purchasing a USED hospital gown at a thrift store. LOL!
LOL- No.
I wore a nursing tank under the hospital gown and when I was in bed I slipped the gown off. (It was to hot)
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

Ok that scares me, LOL.
I had a scheduled c/s with DS1 and bought a hospital gown (the website is no longer up) and LOVED it. I felt so much more human in my cute gown and honestly I look so much less sick in the pics where I was wearing that. Bought 2 Gownies when I had DS2 so I had a total of three gowns. Really really happy I did.
I know a lot of people think it's silly but I really was happy to have them. The sleeves are tailored and the gown is shorter than hospital gowns. I wore the hospital gown until I was up and walking and then changed into my own, didn't bleed or pee all over them, they are perfectly fine and ready to wear again with DS3!

Yeah, I did too. My poor husband still has the images of me getting up out of the bed and blood running down my leg. Labor, delivery and recovery are not pretty no matter how frilly your hospital gown is.
The gown does look really nice in the second picture. Beautiful photo of you and your baby! Thanks for sharing your point of view since you have used one. Now I am tempted.
For laboring and delivery I am wearing the hospital one but my SIL made me one for post labor for the first night. So after I can shower and what not I will wear that.
I have texture issues, and I find hospital gowns very scratchy. My hospital will let me wear whatever I want, so for during labour i am just buying a few cheap, cute, soft t-shirt knit nightshirts that are nice and roomy. If they get gross, I can either toss them or plastic bag them and wash at home. I will bring a cosy and cute nursing PJ set for after I finally have a shower and am ready to see people.
A good friend got one for me and I wore it the next day (dd was born the previous night) and it did help me feel pretty. I got many compliments on it at the hospital...lol! Some of the staff thought it was a new hospital gown that just came out...lol!
