Well, we went in this morning and got all registered at the hospital. Then we got settled in LDR room. I got an IV, which btw, it is the worst part of the whole delivery process IMO. She missed the vein, so she finally go it into another vein. OUCH! She drew some blood to check my platelets one more time to make sure which anesthesia process we would use.
My OB comes in about an hour later and proceeds to do amnio. It was really not too uncomfortable. She was pretty confident that everything would be a go, we would just wait for the results to make sure before the c-section. Well, an hour later, nurse comes back in and says she cannot believe it, but baby's lungs aren't ready. I was shocked. Of COURSE I want her to be ready, but I was a little bummed with the news. My OB came back in and said we would wait until next week, have another office appt. on Monday, but she is pretty sure we will deliver Avery in one week. She is not comfortable doing another amnio, but she would be more content with delivering her at that point. The longer we wait, the better for her lungs, but the riskier things are getting with our other issues. We will make the benefit vs risk decision of keeping her in at that point. Just thought I would update everyone.
Re: Baby is still inside
I don't think I saw what is wrong with your eye! Did the retina detach or something? Scary!
Sarah, I am really glad that you have a doctor who was so thorough about checking Avery's lungs prior to proceeding any further forward. Hopefully now you can get some extra rest and just wait out some more time for Avery's development (especially as I'm sure you had everything ready for LO to come today). Every little moment she can have as an inside baby that isn't complicated by your other risks is good, and I hope you can get lot of help at home so you can just rest and relax. Keep us updated ok?
