ARGH. random vent ahead

So we had no power yesterday - from between 9:30 and 11 (while we were at yoga) until AFTER FIVE (it came on while we were out at dinner)

I killed some time at the mall and then when it was apparent he wasn't going to nap there, I put him in the car and drove home.

I figured i would take advantage of the no power part of things and spray paint his dresser drawers (it'll take two of us to get the body of the dresser outside) and then they'll be ready and I can spray the body this weekend.

So I did a light sand, sprayed on two coats and let them dry.

We just got back from the park and one of the feral cats has SPRAYED them. And it's already dried. I *knew* I should have checked on them before we left, but I was all "it'll do them good to dry in the sun since I really laid it on thick yesterday and it was practically dark when I did."

So there's cat spray inside the drawers. (FTR - this is the first project I've left outside that they've done more than sniff. I think it's because my cats have slept in the drawers.) There's cat spray on the fresh paint. And it's *dry* so I have to sand...this is likely going to spell the end of it for these guys, unless there's a miracle and the sanding doesn't ruin this dresser.

Sigh.

/vent

any advice?

(FWIW - this was a $20 dresser that my mom bought on consignment when I was a kid. So it'll be annoying if we have to replace it, but it was free and it's not an heirloom. It was just FREE, darnit!)

Re: ARGH. random vent ahead

  • That sucks! Having only done a few sanding projects in my days (like 3, so not many) I would use a light/fine sand paper and do it by hand so to not take off too much. I am sure it will be a PITA and since it isn't a heirloom maybe not worth it. Good luck. I hate it whe things like that set back a project.

I'm not worried about sanding down the outside - I'll just do it all as a whole this weekend with the electric sander and be done with it - i'm worried that the inside is too thin/cheap to sand.

I'm gonna run a trip to ikea up the flagpole and see what Husband thinks. ;-)
