Holiday Shopping

Have you started yet?  I never really did much (Hanukkah is not so hyped like Christmas is) but now that Aaron is getting more into toys and has specific likes, I've actually purchased his two "big" gifts already and a few books for the rest of the nights -- traditionally you give 1 gift per night of Hanukkah, not necessarily big gifts and some could be small like a stocking stuffer.

I got him:

Mickey's Blast-Off Rocket: Click Me

I'm really looking forward to him opening these. It's going to be a long 7 weeks! lol

Re: Holiday Shopping

  • Yep.  I got DS's big gifts on clearance -- a Cars garage and Thomas the Train wooden track crane set.  I picked up also on clearance or sale some cars and trains.  DD I'm sitting on my hands to wait for Black Friday as I finally know what she wants.  I may pick up a few things early that I don't think will go on sale.

  • Hocus, we are also giving books as nightly gifts (along with those 2 biggies). Aaron is not so patient enough to let me read to him, but he loves books with lots of things for him to name and count. I got a Little People farm flap book and Brown Bear (Eric Carle) that he loves, but I don't own.

My brother has a December birthday and it was a juggle for my parents, too.

  • oh yeah i've been shopping for months now- her bday is 4 days after Xmas so there's a lot to think about. i buy ONLY when stuff is on sale. so far i've got a ton of books and puzzles (half dozen of each); an old fashioned spinning top, jack in the box, and kaliedascope (sp?); a pkg of underwear (heh) & happy meal toys for her stocking; a wooden stacking train; a picnic basket that opens with some play picnic grub. so i don't have any one big ticket item but told DH maybe we should get a train set or a car ramp thing or something, too. we'll see.

  • I've done lots of M shopping - have gotten him a wooden Thomas, Percy, Annie and Clarabel and a figure-8 track. Have also gotten him a scooter.
  • DS was born Christmas Eve, so I will literally be dividing the gift pile into birthday gifts and Christmas gifts.  I'm trying not to go overboard because he's so young and figure the grandparents will go nuts, so I might as well save my money!   I bought him Christmas jammies, blocks, a scooting toy, and the Fisher Price race track.  I'll probably pick up a few more things like books and clothes.

  • You are well prepared!
Christmakah (as my oldest calls it) is not such a big deal for us. I will probably get smth small at the last moment...
