2nd Trimester

HORRIFIED at the size of my ever growing A$$ (rant)

Ok... so ~ I am a preschool teacher at a very sweet school in a VERY affluent neighborhood in S. CA.  There are at least 4- 5 moms, who are pregnant right along with me... They show up to school each morning in their Lululemon workout clothes, dropping off their 4 year olds before heading out for a nice workout / hike, etc... Most of them don't work, have nannies, etc.... and they are all still very tiny... except the cute little basketball belly.

I KNOW it's ridiculous to compare myself to these women (I work daily from 8 - 5 and when I come home I am EXHAUSTED... I can hardly make it to the couch fast enough)

... but it's tough...  my ass has literally doubled in size.  I am normally a size 2 / 4 and now I am sporting size large sweats -- that are SNUG in the rear!

This is my first pregnancy... and I don't want vanity to take away from enjoying this experience... but, ARGH ~ it's really tough to watch the body I've been used to for almost 40 years, change SO drastically in such a short time.

Anyone else struggling with this?  Or am I the only one?  Also... any 2nd or 3rd time moms with reassuring words about getting back into those pre-pregnancy jeans?  I am freaking out that they will all go to goodwill :(

  • How about this? You just give me whatever ass you gain during your pregnancy. I suffer from N.A.S. (No Ass Syndrome) and you seriously cant tell the difference between my back and the butt region. Its sad..

  • I normally carry my extra weight in my butt and thighs and they got even bigger during my last pregnancy.  I started at a 6/8, so not as small as you, but I fit back into my pre-preg jeans and shorts by 6 months.

It probably could have been a little sooner but I didn't really have the motivation to exercise until DS was almost 1, so it was just gradual weight loss from BF.  Looking back that was probably the best way to do it because I never had any supply issues from trying to diet or exercise and I kept the weight off easily.

  • I have no advice for you, but i certainly feel your pain. I'm usually about a 4 myself and I feel like I've doubled in size. And the sad part is that I do workout daily (well at least 6 x a week). I was talking to my OB yesterday and she said as long as you're not eating excessively you'll be OK. She says if you're going to gain, you're going to gain it. I have been trying to be more careful about my eating, but unfortunately i think I'm in that "going to gain it" category. Good luck. And, I am hoping and praying and developing a plan to get back into shape after baby comes
  • I know the women of which you speak. I am a lucky stay at home mom; so i run into them fairly often at kid's classes/preschool, etc.

I am a size 4 pre pregnancy; and like you; I just sort of explode and get soft and big everywhere. So not cool. I mean, granted it is my own fault considering the second I found out I was pregnant again, my first thought was, "Yes! I have an excuse not to go to the gym anymore!" :-)

This is my third pregnancy and with the previous two I fit right back into my pre-pregnancy jeans by probably six months post partum. That was with doing nothing, eating whatever the heck I wanted, and breastfeeding. This pregnancy I am going to drag my rear back to the gym asap; but that is just because I got ''softer'' with each pregnancy so I really would still like to have some semblance of a stomach. But I still fit into my jeans with the past two there just seemed to be extra skin places. LOL. Oh, and with the previous two pregnancies I gained a whopping 50 lbs with the first and 40 with the second. :-)

  • Thanks ladies... it really helps just to feel like I am not alone.  I read "Belly Laughs" by Jenny McCarthy and she talks about the development of cellulite in places that it was not before, etc etc... that was comforting too...

I hate sounding so caught up in the physical, when so many amazing things are happening inside.

    Thanks for listening Smile

  • I could have written you post myself except I am not a teacher ...but I work the same hours.... I am a FTM with the same problem and I was telling my husband the other day that I don't like to look in the mirror anymore or take pictures of myself...( all my friends overseas ask me for pics with the belly), I just feel that my posterior grows at the same rate with my belly..:( It's just not cute...and yes I see a lot of women very skinny with just a nice round belly bump...Anyway just to let you know you're not alone...
  • My butt is vanishing at the same rate at which my belly is expanding!!!!! I really think that very few women totally love everything about their pregnant body, its such a change to what you had before. And let me tell you, from my experience with DS, you probably will fit into those jeans again but if you are anything like me it will be a totally different fit! Your body goes through so much change that for me it was never quite the same again - not bad, just different. Embrace it :o), thats my advice!
