What do you plan on saving?

I have an old steamer trunk that is now Parker's & I plan on putting all of her things in it that i decide to save.  I'm curious to know what you all are planning on saving of your LO's & if you are in to scrapbooking what will go in there?

I have always wanted to get in to scrapbooking & finally started during my pregnancy.  I'm really excited to make Parker's baby book & collect things of hers.  So far I have saved the outfit she came home in, her recieving blanket & beanie from the hospital, her Halo sleepsack that she slept in til she outgrew.  The hospital gave us that & it has the hospital's name embroidered on it.  I'm also saving her little outfits I love for the next LO (I'm hoping we have another girl).

I want to save everything but I know it's not realistic. MIL gave me a bunch of DH's baby stuff, a few sleepers & some blankets that will go in her trunk too.  So tell me ladies, what all do you plan on saving?

Re: What do you plan on saving?

  • I will probably only save certain pieces of clothing that are special and I will not use for another child. I plan on doing this throughout her childhood and into her teens and make a quilt for her along the way. There are already some things I am super sentimental about.

If you knew me you would understand how big of an undertaking this will be. I do not sew nor am I crafty! A girl can dream!

  • Space is at a premium in our house so most of the memories from her infancy will be in the form of pictures.  I actually got a baby book, and I am not sure I got past week one in filling it out (but a great place to store the professional pictures until I decide what to do with them).  I did consider having a quilt made out of certain items (specifically all of the sports-related items), but doubt that will get done.

  • So far we haven't saved a ton. We have his and my hospital bracelets and the card from his bassinet that are in his baby book, and the hospital gave DH the pair of scissors he used to cut Ev's cord, so we have those too. Besides that we kept a hat and shirt that he wore in the hospital and I may save one or two of my favorite outfits from special occasions to give to him when he has kids of his own someday. I have no idea where I'm going to keep this stuff - my mom had mine in just a box but I worry about things getting ruined so I have no idea what to do with it.

  • Since I was little, I have been saving dress up clothes in a suit case for when I had a daughter. I fully intend on leaving that for my daughter.

I really want to get an old vintage suitcase or trunk to put everything in.

The things of hers i'm saving would be the journal i've been keeping on her since I was pregnant, hospital bands, pictures, a onsie that I bought to announce my pregnancy and a letter I wrote to her father to announce my pregnancy. I will probably save all of the tutus I made to add to the dress up collection as well as her hair bows that I have made. I think that's all I have for now.. I'm sure there is much more to come!

  • I do/did this with DS for his first's, and his first year, on top of his baby-scrapbook. I saved his homecoming outfit, First Christmas outfit, hair from first haircut, his favorite receiving blanket, first pair of shoes, special things, like a hat that a dear friend made for him. I saved his first scribble drawing. Things like that.

I've already started setting aside the same as DD gets bigger. =)

  • I plan on saving as much as possible for her first year and then just a couple little things in subsequent years until she starts school (first picture, first time she writes, etc).

Aside from what you already listed I have all the cards that we received from friends and family, a few flowers from a bouquet my grandparents sent us from England, the first pacifier she used (she loved that big green thing!), our hospital bracelets,  and the log I kept of her feedings/poops in the first few months...
