We have recently moved to Rockville and I am trying to figure out which OBGyn Practice to start at. I have an 8-month old son and need to make my routine yearly appt.
I've heard Capital Women's Group is good, but which one?
Any recs? One serves births at Holy Cross and one at Shady Grove Adventist.
I'm fine with either hospital, but don't know much other than Holy Cross is the "baby factory."
ANY thoughts/opinions/reviews are greatly appreciated.
If it helps, I was previously at Esposito, Mayer, Hogan and Associates in Columbia, MD (Howard County General) and loved them and my birth experience with my son.
Re: Maryland Hospitals & OBGyns
I go to CWC on Georgia and Dennis (Drs Resta, Sine, Lizardo, Band, Tyau etc.). I really like them. I delivered at Holy Cross by unplanned c-section after 42 hours of unproductive labor (after PPROM) and it was still a positive birth experience. I like all of the doctors, but Dr. Resta, Lizardo and Sine are my favorites (Resta did my c-section, Lizardo took awesome care of me when I became high-risk at 30 weeks, and Sine was really wonderful postpartum).
Several other bumpies go there as well, and have had a bunch of different birth experiences, but I think most are positive.
Holy Cross was fine to deliver at, but I also don't have anything to compare it to. I'd go there again.
I go to CWC by Montgomery Mall (Gschwend and Kleinerman) and they deliver at Sibley. I live in Alexandria but liked the docs and practice so much that I stayed with them after I moved.
SIbley was great!
This. I go to this practice - Drs Sine and Resta are my favorites - and delivered my first at Holy Cross last December. I was induced due to GD and my whole experience was totally fine. I would also deliver there again. My biggest complaints were lack of hot water one day, a slightly surly overnight nurse, and that it took freaking forever to see an LC the day of discharge. Honestly, those things could happen at any hospital, be it Holy Cross or Shady Grove.
I'm not sure what you mean by "baby factory" but yes, Holy Cross does deliver more babies than any other hospital in Maryland. That doesn't mean their standard of care is lower than any other hospital in the area.
ditto this exactly - and I used them off the recs from this board
Thanks all!! These are great tips and thoughts. I really appreciate it.
I didn't mean anything at all negative by "baby factory" for Holy Cross (I work in health care research and realize quite well that when you do something often, usually you know it well)...just that they are known for how many women deliver there.
I just hadn't heard anything about Shady Grove at all and didn't know which one I should choose...and their corresponding practices play a role as well.
Again, I really appreciate your responses ladies!
My wife goes to CWC in Rockville (Wolfgram) and they've been great.
Shady Grove Adventist is basically nextdoor. And so is Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM, where you go for sonograms). So everything is close together.
We did our tour of SGAH the other week and the birthing suites looked very nice. They have virtual tours online you can check out too.
I use this office as well but the Bethesda location (closer to work with all those appt.s). APgar was highly recommended but was on maternity leave when I started there so I went with Margolis - both DH and I loved him and it was SO much better than my first experience. He totally fixed my first C-csection scar and overall just had a fun personality and knew his stuff. I also saw Wolfgram once or twice and really liked him.
I just delivered at Sibley, which is a bit further away and had a great experience. My OB is in DC (Dr. Russell Bridges), although Dr. Kleinerman ended up delivering my baby! I was admitted at 33 weeks and had the opportunity to meet Dr. Gschwind as well. They were all great.
If you're looking for a pediatrician for your little one, try Metropolitan Pediatric Group - they're on Rockville Pike across from White Flint Mall. All of the doctors are great and very thorough.
