How much time between turning in paperwork and call from cw?

I am curious how long it took everyone to get the call from your case worker once you turned in all of your paperwork if you were working with an agency.  I turned our paperwork in on the 25th and I have not heard anything.  Would they wait to call us until they had everything in, even things we were not responsible for?  For example, they may be waiting for one of our reference letters, but I think that was sent at least a week ago.  Or, maybe they are waiting for our employment records to come back,or my H's physical?  I guess I was just expecting a call right away after turning everything in.  I guess I can call tomorrow and just make sure everything that I did turn in got to the right person.

Re: How much time between turning in paperwork and call from cw?

  • It depends. Our agency office was a one-woman show, so if our SW was dealing with a lot of placements on top of classes and orientations, it could take a while to go through the paperwork and see if it was all there.

    You can always call.

  • From the time that we turned in everything (including payment) to the time that we got the call that we were "official" was 10 days. During that time, the supervisor went over all of the documentation to make sure that everything was in order and that "all of the i's were dotted and the t's were crossed". They double check everything before giving you the final approval just in case there is a quick placement- then everything is already in order. If you have any question you should call your agency- that's what they are there for. :-)

  • I would say we got a call within the week. We also had a one woman show, but we were also working with a smaller agency.

Call or email the caseworker and check in.

  • Thank you all or your replies!  I did call today and it relieved all of my worries.  The right person does have our information and she said there is just one other family that she is working on and then ours is next.  She seems to know who I am already...we haven't even been assigned a case worker and I am already super annoying woman with my check-in calls.  Oh well, hopefully it will make sure that they stay on top of things for us! :)
