food allergy question...

how do you know they are having a reaction to a type of food? 

LO is only eating oatmeal and cinnamon right now. (I've tried sweet potato but he doesn't like it) and after he eats and i wipe his mouth all around his mouth goes a little red. it doesn't seem to bother him and it's not itchy or sore it just looks red and kinda rough skin....he also has eczema on his arms and legs so i wasn't sure if it was just that ... or if he's teething?

    I do know that a skin test is a common way to check for allergies, both food and other types.  If the skin reacts, it is a sign that there is an allergy.  I would recommend speaking to you pediatrician as this could be a sign.

    Sometimes it could just be a reaction to the food on the skin.  DS2 gets red and blotchy when the carrots get all over his face.  I would watch to see if the skin is red where the food lands or is it in places that it hasn't been.
