Jardin Magico

Anyone send their kids to Jardin Magico?  Currently DS does not go to daycare because DH and I work opposite schedules, however we are looking into something in the South Minneapolis area part time so that he can socialize with other kids.  If your LO's go there, please share your experiences.  TIA!

    Does anyone know how much that place costs? They wouldn't give me a price without going in for a tour, and I don't want to waste my time with a tour if I don't know the price. Catch 22.

    I really hated that when I started looking at preschools.  Not a fan of that tactic.  What- am I supposed to fall in love with your place and then find out it is way out of my budget?  Not the way I shop around :)

     I didn't do a tour because they were full in my neighborhood when I inquired.  I am curious to hear the costs as well.

    Yea, it kind of turned me off to them. I was looking while I was pregnant and never really pursued it, but I'd still like to find out, although the fact they won't tell me makes me think it's too much. There location is very convenient to me and I love that they do CD and organic foods.

    My son just turned 1, so not preschool age yet...  I am also curious about the cost.  We may end up doing a tour, so if we do, I'll let you ladies know.  If they are full, I would like to get my son on the waiting list for preschool at least...  Depending on the cost though...  I agree it is really annoying that they do not tell you their cost until you go in for a tour.

    I have a friend that sends her child there and really likes it. I believe it is around 1200 (same as most centers in this area). She indicated her impression was the new Edina location would be more expensive though.

    I have friends with a 6 month old that were VERY impressed with their tour there...so they got on the waiting list well before the baby was born...and they are still on the waiting list.  So, if you tour it and go forward, be prepared (possibly) for a very long wait.  That might just be for infants, who knows! But, they were very excited for their son to finally start there:)

    We will be touring the Edina location next week.  I believe (don't quote me) that their weekly infant rate is somewhere around $300/310.  I'll post next week after our tour once I have a final number.

    I wouldn't be too concerned about socialization at age 1.  Kids do not play with eachother at that age.  We did a music class, went to the zoos, children's musesum, story times and other outings.  She started part time preschool at 3  and is doing well with the other kids.

    Well the other reason is so that my husband can get some sleep because he works at night and I work during the day.   Right now we have my MIL helping, but she won't be able to help much longer.  Plus I have heard about the long waiting lists, so I figure if we put his name on the list now, maybe we would be able to get him in part time in a year or so. :)  Also, just curious if anyone knows the part time/per day rates?

    Infant is $344 at the Edina location...I really want my child to go here, but they do have a really weird process to get in.  They will call you a month before you need child care and tell you if you are in.  So for full time working parents needing to go back to work, it does not really work.

    We are new to Minnesota and it was by sheer chance we found JM. We have taught our little one sign language and never found another kid able to do that. When we saw this one toddler signing to her mom, we had to approach the mom and give her kudos. She told us that JM taught all sorts of stuff and of them is sign language which is helpful as young kids are able to use their hands better than they are able to talk. Previously, we tried 2 other daycares here in MN and they both sucked. The first one, my daughter came home with a nasty bite mark from another toddler on day 1 and reeked of grocery store icing, the second one did not have structure to their curriculum and all the children were dripping in snot with no one paying any heed to wiping it. Each time I picked her up from the second place, she always seemed so miserable. At JM, my little one is happy. The teachers really do care about the kids in their charge. The place is clean, they serve the children food I would be serving her. I like the structure that they have. For the price, they provide the food (breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack), cloth diapers and wipes. I love that she has an art project to show me each time I pick her up. It is a beautiful place. All the staff are friendly. Even the housekeepers care to know my baby's name. This tells me that everyone there is watching out for her. Their kitchen staff are dressed appropriately each time they come up to serve the kids their meal. I love that place.
