Can you reverse body changes from pregnancy?

I started working out 3 weeks PP and am upping the intensity but just taking it easy on the ab work until 6 weeks per my OB. The rest of me is sore, and definately feeling the workouts. I fit into jeans 1 size up pretty quickly, and have noticed that the rest of me is back in PP shape except my boobs (I'm still BF/Pumping), my midsection is softer and hips are wider.

I know I should be able to tone my midsection ( I was lucky and had twins and no stretch marks) but is there anything I can do to get my hips back or do the hip changes that happen in pregnancy stay, regardless of getting back in shape? I was really small prior to getting pregnant, so being up a size isn't the end of the world-- I'd just like to fit back in to my large collection of MEKs and Sevens without having to rebuy them all 1 size up...

  • Are you wearing a post maternity support belt?  After 2 babies I?m still in my size 4/6 and I give credit to wearing a post maternity support belt up to 6 weeks after delivery.  I've already located  my belt for baby #3 and I will pack it in my hospital bag.  Check them out.

  • My hips went back after both of my kids, it just took some time, so I would say if you're only 6w pp, that you have some time to go yet.

  • Good, I feel encouraged that it can happen. I have an abdominal binder from the hospital and then a postpartum hip one from BRU-- I layer them and have DH bind them TIGHT at night-- so hopefully that helps...they are too lumpy to wear during the day but I do wear firm support spanx during the day for some compression...hopefully I have the same experience!

  • Just give it a little bit of time, and PLEASE don't push your body too hard until you're sure you are fully healed.

    Some ladies' hips never go back.. mine went back to normal, or I'd dare say even smaller than before. I used to be a healthy (skinny) 7, and now I'm a size 4-5 and slightly underweight for my height. That's just how my body decided to work, and it's not the same for everyone.

  • I am usally petite too and was 110lbs..and my hips have widened about 5 inches because of weight and whatever...for me to work after baby..i do modeling gigs and gogo..i will need to get back into similar shape..

    I am due in about 11 weeks and am just now looking into this.  What kind of band from where should I get???

  • I would buy a couple pairs of 'transistion' jeans, just in the meantime. I was down to my noral weight pretty quickly, but hip bones stayed widened for a few months...they DO go back though!
