Trying to Get Pregnant

Can we talk body hair?

I have never really discussed body hair with well, anyone..and I am curious just how much hair other women have and where. I'm not talking about leg hair or hair down there, but more so hair on your face or chest (or other areas)?

I feel like I have more than normal and a small part of me worries about hormonal imbalances and if this is ok. I'd love to hear that I'm not the only hairy chick out there. I get hair on my cheeks and chin, and it is definitely more than just a few stray hairs here and there. I pluck the crap out of everything. I also get hair on my neck (just a few here and there), and on my nipples (this freaks me out, but just a few pop up from time to time).

I feel like after having DD the hair has increased and I'm wondering if this is something to bring up with a doctor, or if I am going to look insane? It is hard to feel sexy when you are constantly plucking the crap out of every visible area. Ugh.

Please tell me I am not alone?

Re: Can we talk body hair?

  • Yeah, that's totally just you.

I kid, I kid.  I'm not really a hairy bastard, but I have a friend or two who are who both have babies, so their hormones are perfectly aces.

I also get the strat nipple hairs that other people are embarrassed to talk about.  And since having my daughter, I now sprowt one really thick WHITE hair on the back of each shoulder blade that I make MH pluck for me every few weeks.  He says I'm sprouting wings because they're so thick.  They're like those plastic piece they use to hold price tags on new clothes.  Yeah, that's hot.

And of course I have the randon chin/neck hair that need a good plucking every now and again.

  • You are not alone Tongue Tied I have chest heir and around my nipples! I have to pluck as well and it is not sexy.
  • I am on Ukrainian decent; frankly, I would be concerned if I didn't have as much of hair were I would rather there was none. My husband points out that I have more chest hair than he has Tongue Tied

But seriously, it is my understanding that body hair is linked with testosterone levels and so it would make sense that as hormone levels and balances change, so would your hair production.   Now, if you will excuses me, I have some nipple hair to tweeze.

  • No, not alone. I occasionally have to pluck a chin hair or two and I've found a few on my neck too. Ick. I would've chalked them up to hormones but I actually had them before having my ds. Embarassing.

  • You are not alone!

I have hairs that grow around my nipples. I pluck the ish out of those hairs (My H would never know I had them). I also get a stray hair or two on my chin. The place that I really noticed hair growth (after baby) was my "happy trail" area. I have always had a trail of peach fuzz, but now I have a few, stray dark hairs that grow there! I have pairs of tweezers all over the joint so that I can pluck whenever the need presents itself!

  • Normal by my standards.  I seemed to have a few more "stray eyebrows" on my chin pre-pregnancy than I find now.  And an occasional hair on my nipple skeeves me out, too.

  • Totally normal to have a few stray hairs in those areas.  If you are noticing a lot of hair in places you didn't use to have it than I'd probably mention that to a doctor - it could be hormonal.

  • I am beginning to feel better already! Thanks ladies, it is nice to know I am not the only one. I have always wanted to talk about this with friends IRL but I'm always scared they will give me the side eye and an "I totally can't relate" response.
  • When I was younger I saw someone shave their nipples, so I thought that was the normal thing to do.....needless to say this fair-skinned blonde haired woman now has nipple hair that has to be plucked/shaved off.  Not fun!

  • I too am a little hairy. I usually use cream on my face once a week to remove the hairs. I get fine hairs on my face but since I have dark hair it is much more noticeable. I also have stray thicker hairs on my neck and around my nipples, that I pluck away at. Stinkin' genetics!

I'm pretty sure they'd be lying out of embarassment if they said they couldn't relate.  I can relate!

  • Oh yeah, I'm Italian....I've got hair! I never had hair on my nipples until going off bcp. Now every once in a while I get a stray. I've also got a very handsome moustache. Luckily it is mainly light hair, but it still there. I pluck it when I notice it.
  • Nope, you're not alone...I have PCOS and one of the little gems that comes with it is excess hair. I get it especially bad under my chin and along my jawline. It makes me feel horrible about myself and i would love to get laser hair removal. It's a crazy hormone imbalance that causes it, and also I used to smoke so that probably didn't help anything!

My waxer swears up and down this doesn't happen, but it did to me too.  When I was younger I noticed baby fine blonde hair under my chin, so I shaved it and ever since it has come in dark.  Very embarrasing, every few months my waxer asks what I am doing about it, but I am too embarrased let her wax it and come out of there with a bright red chin for all to see (I use a fine "pen" raxor on it everyday)

OP, I get more than the stray hair in all the places you mentioned.  It is not fun at all...I did have my horomones checked once, to my dismay (was hoping I could fix it) they came back normal.  I'm just a hairy girl I guess.  I made MH promise that if I am ever in a coma he'll shave my "beard" for me so I won't be embarased when people come visit me, lol.

We are twins. Seriously, this is exactly how mine is. Though I have never told H about my facial hair. I pluck/"finely" shave what is there and he (to my knowledge) has never noticed. It is my dirty secret.

Though now, I need to tell someone. I don't want a beard if I go into a coma!!

  • I'm not super hairy, but I definitely get hair around my nipples and a few VERY dark and thick hairs on my chin. The older I seem to get the more of them crop up.

    That's exactly what I say!

I get my eyebrows and my lip waxed Embarrassed and I have more hair on my arms than my husband.  I blame my Portugese genes.  I also have several spots on my chin/neck that I have to frequently pluck.

Lol to the "stray eyebrows on the chin" comment that a pp made!

Saaame here! I have such thick and dark brown hair that I would need a second job to pay for all the laser hair removal. How does everyone deal with the ingrown hairs from tweezing (especially around the nipples?)

  • I keep wondering why women grow hair on their nipples and happy trails.  Until I know its purpose, I pluck it away as soon as it sprouts!

very carefully....I've also thought about doing laser treatments, but it just isn't an option currently. It only really bothered me right before I got married, so until it starts to really bug me again, I will just keep up the tweezing and cream.

  • I'm late to the party, but I wax my upper lip & would like to have my "beard" area waxed.  I don't get long hairs like everyone else has described, but I do have peach fuzz.  I feel like it's more peach fuzz than other people have though.

I do get a stray white hair on my stomach (always in the exact same spot) that I have to pluck.
