Disney planning help

So we're thinking of blowing off the family this year and hitting Disney for a last family of 3 trip before the little one appears in March.

I was thinking early December. Where do you look for good deals. We figure we'll stay at Disney since we don't want to fuss with rental cars etc. We are contemplating driving too, but still on site is easiest :)

We have AAA and costco memberships too if that helps :)

Thanks.

Re: Disney planning help

  • We are going the 1st week of Dec. Going to drive down and stay in a timeshare, havent figured out how we are going back and forth between the park and timeshare yet, hoping there is a shuttle.

  • We are going the 2nd weekend in December.  We are going with a package deal with a 3 day park hopper and a hotel that is close enough so that we can walk to the park/hotel. (I can't remember the name of the hotel right now but it has a separate room...kinda like a divider for kids to sleep in)  I think DH found the deal through Disney. But I'm going to cross reference through AAA and see if it's a better deal before we book (which we are doing this week!)

  • I'm no help when it comes to looking for deals, but we did stay at the Paradise Pier disney hotel when we went down there over the summer. It wasn't super fantastic but it was nice, large, quiet, and close enough to downtown Disney to hop on the tram... Have a great time!

I'd love the name of the hotel! We haven't had a non suite room in over a year and I was worried about that. Suites on site are pricey!

    ditto, would love the info.

  • Just found it.  It's the desert palms hotel and suites.  It has a full breakfast, free parking, free wireless internet as well.  It's the Yuha Kids suite that we booked. ETA: $122/night

  • We are going the first week in December. We almost always stay at the double tree in orange. Its only one freeway exit down, takes about 5-10 minutes to get from the hotel to the park on their free shuttle to and from the park, which is great. We have driven before, but its just sometimes easier to not have to pay for hotel parking and such. We got our hotel for $89/night when we booked a few months back. The idea of walking to and from the park (even if its a block or two away....those are crazy long blocks) after walking around all day is more than I can deal with.

We have annual passes, so I haven't bought tickets in awhile. I know there isn't a HUGE price difference between AAA and costco. I think it depends on what you want when you go. AAA includes an early entrance day and free parking at Disney.

  • Sporty, we might see you there that weekend then!  We are booked for that weekend too!  We are staying at the Disneyland hotel because we have a lot of family coming in for that weekend and this way we dont have to coordinate anything beyond meeting in the lobby at X time and walking or hitching a ride on the monorail to the park.

We found a great deal due to my sister having an annual pass, so I used her info to book all the hotel rooms and her BFF works for Disney so she is getting us a deal on our 3 day park hopper, so I don't think I am of any use on this end unless you want to convenience of being walking distance to the parks.  If you want to stay at a disney hotel, check their site for specials and deals (under the specific specials and deals tab not just searching their reservations) because they are running a special right now if you go between Thanksgiving and New Years, so you can stay for like $200 (or something like that) a night which is good for disney hotels.
