Me and my husband are TTC. I went off of bc 9 months ago. We started tracking with a ovulation kit 4 months ago. I'm wondering when we should start worrying, or when we should go talk with a MD about it. There are some family history on my side of the woman taking awhile to get pregnant, so I'm not sure if I should take that into consideration or not. Any answers, opinons or advise would be great. Thanks
Re: When should we start worrying???
General rule is 6 cycles if you are over 35, 1 year if under. I would start charting your basal body temp in addition to using ovulation predictor tests. Most here use Fertility Friend to track the temps, and they have great tutorials. You can click on anyone's ticker or just go to fertilityfriend.com to make an account and read up.
Lots of good info in the newbie link :https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/42877040.aspx
Welcome! It is not recommended to go to a doctor until after a year for active TTC (if you are over 35, then after 6 months). The OPK are ok, but many on here (myself included) would suggest adding temp tracking as well since that is really the only way you will be able to confirm that you have ovulated (and get a better idea about your cycle patterns). Also, this like has a lot of great information: https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/42877040.aspx
Good luck!
As other have said, it can take up to a year for a normal couple to conceive. You just came off BC 9 months ago. For all you know, your body is still trying to regulate itself.
I highly suggest charting so you can confirm ovulation. OPKs do not confirm, they just tell you your body is gearing up to O. Your body can gear up to O and then not O.
