Portable heaters

My brain is about to burst! I am overwhelmed from researching portable heaters. I feel tht the baby room is cold so I want to get a portable heater that is child/pet safe with a temperature control. IT would be nice if the cost was reasonable and does not have a history of breaking down. Has anyone found portable heaters that is safe enough for the baby's room?

Hi Laura,

We have a DeLonghi Safe Heat oscillating heater in DD's bedroom. I like it because you can set it to turn on if the temperature drops below a certain number and because it turns off if picked up or knocked over. We got it at Costco a couple years ago, but here is its Amazon link:

There are wall-mount and portable ceramic heaters. We have a rolling portable one. I don't recall the brand, but i'll check back with that when i'm home. The wall-mount style could be a good bet (it's plug-in, from what i understand).

I'm back. This is the heater we have, except i think it's 1500 or maybe 2000 watts (it doesn't say on the heater). There is a sturdy screen over the opening (which is narrow, about 3x10") to the heating element, so fingers and tails and such can't get in there. I don't know how hot the screen gets b/c i can't bring myself to touch it... but the rest of the opening isn't too hot to touch, and the casing stays cool.

Like i was hearing myself. Had the same dilemma with my little Jim. I wanted to choose the best for him. After a bit research i knew the oil radiator will do the job best.
